Cheryl Burke On Dancing Lessons, Personal Hardships, And Dancing With The Stars!

FOX News has a new interview up With Dancing With The Stars Cheryl Burke in promotion with her new paperback release for ‘Dancing Lessons: How I Found Passion and Potential on the Dance Floor and in Life’. In the new interview Cheryl discusses how dancing shaped her life, her personal tribulations with child molestation (I’m so glad she decided to write about it), and Dancing With The Stars. I also love what she says on Rob, casting, and her goals for the show which you can read below. Be sure to read the full interview at the link.

FOX411: Last season we had Rob Kardashian out by week three. But he won us over.
Burke: Yeah that’s what I thought as well. I think it was week four when he dedicated a dance to his dad, I think people really started relating to him. He’s just a real person, like a normal guy who is not affected by the whole Hollywood scene. In the beginning you judged him because he’s Rob Kardashian, but you really got to know who he is and he’s really a simple, humble person.

FOX411: The producers pick your partners. Ever walk in the room and think oh no?
Burke: At the end of the day I’m not going to win every season. My goal is to try my best. They can’t always give me the young, good looking partners, they really have to make sure they mix it up, otherwise people are going to start thinking, ‘Why does Cheryl always get the good partners?’ I can’t always have the heartthrob.

FOX411: Maks was pretty outspoken last season. Was it uncomfortable backstage?
Burke: That’s just who is he. He says what he says and I’m not the one to judge.

DWTS Lacey Schwimmer Choreographs Las Vegas Show “Magic And Mayhem”

America’s Got Talent and Master illusionist, Michael Turco, and Dancing With The Stars Pro, Lacey Schwimmer have teamed up for a ‘mashup’ Las Vegas production called “Magic and Mayhem” that will debut Feb. 16 at Saxe Theater in Planet Hollywood’s Miracle Mile Shops. Below are some more details from Vegas Deluxe if you’d like to take in the fun event while visiting.

The show is described as a fusion of illusions and audience interaction combined with the stylings of choreographer Lacey, who grew up in Las Vegas. “The time was right for me to make the leap to Las Vegas, and Saxe Theater is the perfect fit,” Michael said in a news release. “I am living my dream and couldn’t be happier to bring my show to the Entertainment Capital of the World.”

Theater owner David Saxe added, “This show is perfect for all ages. Its youthful energy and innovative style will definitely set it apart from the rest.” Lacey said she’s proud to add Las Vegas show choreographer to her resume. “I’m excited to be working with Michael Turco. I’m thrilled to be part of it!” “Magic and Mayhem” will run 4 p.m. daily.

Karina Smirnoff On Controversial Dancing With The Stars Casting And More

Did you know Dancing With The Stars’ Karina Smirnoff started her career in figure skating, ballet, and then gymnastics? It wasn’t until later Karina started ballroom dancing. Karina talks all about it and how ballroom dancing is “the perfect combination of art, sports and showbiz.” Karina also talks about Dancing With The Stars and the criticism behind casting the celebrities, her past partners, and more. Here is a snippet from the interview. Is her answer to the first question below true or false? I’d say true, but, I still wish they’d get a few more A-listers. I still have loved this show regardless and I always end up liking people I have never heard of and/or thought I wouldn’t like.

The most recent season of “Dancing with the Stars” was criticized for a celeb cast that didn’t engage the public the way that past casts have. Here’s Smirnoff’s take:
“There is an element to that I can agree with, but we always have some sort of controversy. If the public likes the cast and everything’s happy about that, then the controversy’s, well, is it fair that he or she is a different type of dancer (meaning non-ballroom dancer)? … There’s always something, in a way, to complain about. Which is good – as long as we discuss the show, it keeps it relevant and going. But I feel like we do a great job because we have characters from a different area of the industry every single time. We have the reality star, we have the war hero, we have the athlete. There is one for every taste, which is one of the reasons why the show is so successful, because it pulls in so many different demographics.”

The relationships don’t necessarily end after the show wraps:
“I’m good friends with most of my partners. I’m probably best friends and the closest friend with my season 12 partner, Ralph Macchio. He is a dear friend, and his family is unbelievable. We rang into the New Year together. We try to see each other as much as we can. Some people do become part of your life after that experience. You get to see each other at your worst, at your best, at your strongest, at your most vulnerable. So you really grow together as a team. After 10 hours a day for three-and-a-half months, you get tired of that person, you can’t wait to have an opportunity to miss them. But, at the same time, you grow so close together.”

You can read the full interview at The Day. Note how Karina and Season 13 partner, J.R. Martinez will be dancing at the Mohegan Sun this upcoming Sunday. For information on how you can attend, see the Mohegan Sun.

Post Miss America Coverage Of Dancing With The Stars Mark Ballas And Brooke Burke (Photos)

The post Miss America coverage continues here at Pure Dancing With The Stars. Above is a picture taken of judges Mark Ballas, Raul de Molina, Kris Jenner, Lara Spencer, Chris Powell, Mike Fleiss, Teri Polo, and the lovely, newly crowned Miss America Laura Kaeppeler. You can see more post pictures of Mark and the group at Zimbio.com. There is a cool album here too (Facebook account required). Some pictures include Miss America host Brooke Burke one of which you can view below. Stunning gown! What do you think?

ADDING: You can also read on how Mark and the other judges have influenced next year’s pageant at Vegas Deluxe. Below is a take which is a good idea I think….

Lara and Mark said that they recognize the relevancy of Miss America but want her to become more of a celebrity during the yearlong, hard job she reigns over. “It’s a shame that she’s MIA in public recognition when they’ve taken on this incredible responsibility and worked so hard for it,” Lara said.

Mark commented: “We can update and still respect the fact she is relevant and a wonderful role model with great confidence who connects with everybody from politicians to pop stars. I want to have more young people saying, ‘I want to be like Miss America” — and that might mean taking a ’70s wardrobe look into modern times and changing the music for the talent competition.”
