DWTS17 Week 9 Elizabeth Berkley and Val Chmerkovskiy Elimination Interviews

What a crazy night! Like in previous weeks, I was shocked and saddened with the elimination. It just doesn’t seem right that another better dancer goes home especially when Elizabeth Berkley and Val Chmerkovskiy had such great dances last night. I thought for sure they’d make the final. Anyway, here they are after the show talking all about it with On The Red Carpet, Access Hollywood, and Afterbuzz for starters….

More later with these two. Stay tuned!

ETA: You can watch Val and Elizabeth on Good Morning America below. Also, be sure to watch this link as The View should be posting their new interview with them in their new episode a little later.

ETA2: People interviewed them too. Below is a little take….

“I felt a little sucker punch because I was excited about next week,” Berkley, 41, told PEOPLE backstage after bidding adieu to the ballroom. “I just feel, like, cut short a little bit – not that I feel entitled by any means. I just felt excited and grateful, that’s all. Don’t be sad that it’s over, smile because it happened.”

Lowest scoring contestant Bill Engvall was once again saved from jeopardy with partner Emma Slater.

“When I heard it was me and Bill [in the bottom two], I knew I was gone,” Berkley’s partner Val Chmerkovskiy told reporters with a laugh. “No, I didn’t think anything, to be honest. I don’t think about anything during the results. I’m not nervous, I’m not anxious, I’m not super thrilled. I’m just [wondering] where my hard work has gotten [me]. I work my a– off. She works her a– off every week, every day. If it’s time for us to go, then it’s time for us to go. I really have nothing to say.”

Also, E Online interviewed some of the cast on their elimination. Derek and Amber had this to say….

Dancing extraordinaire Derek Hough vents, “[Elizabeth] did an amazing job tonight, and was praised for being just such an amazing dancer but I think this season has been the most shocking eliminations, there have been several.” Amber Riley’s professional partner says he blames the new voting system for season 17’s inconsistent eliminations. “I think it’s the new system that the votes from last week count for this week and it makes it more unpredictable and it’s crazy.”

Amber echoes her partner’s thoughts saying that she is going to miss “so many things” about Elizabeth being in the competition. “She’s just such a great person to talk to like if you get frustrated she always has something positive to say is a great hugger. She’s a light in rehearsal and I really really really love her.” Derek adds, “She is one of the most genuine people I have ever met. When you see her she just give you love and energy and like she said is just a pure light so I’m sad to see her go.” We are too!
