Peta Murgatroyd And Ron Artest Talk On Rehearsals, The Cha Cha Cha, The Moving Stage, And More!

Today TMZ interviewed Peta and Ron. Peta says they’ve had about three rehearsals so far and Ron is doing “very well”. She is very happy with his progress so far. They talk of their height differences for where she’s 5’7″ and Ron is 6’7″. She plans to wear 3″ heels for their dances. Currently, the two are working on the Cha Cha Cha for week 1 and the Quickstep for week 2. They discuss the new moving stage which Ron didn’t know about. The look on his face is a ‘look of fear’ while Peta calms him down (LOL, I think I would be scared of a moving stage too? 😯 ). They also talk on the NBA lockout, but, Ron thinks it will all work out somehow where he can still dance if the lockout ends. It’s a super cute interview and one of Peta’s first interviews as a Pro teacher. I love how TMZ tagged them with the title “Beauty And The Peace”. So perfect. All this and more at the 29:02 minute mark >>>>HERE. Photo above from Peta’s twitter page.

Adding: You can also listen to them talking to ESPN radio in a new audio interview HERE as well.

Chaz Bono Talks To Ryan Seacrest About Dancing With The Stars (Audio)

Chaz Bono was Ryan Seacrest’s guest on his radio show today. He told Ryan that he didn’t tell his mom Cher about being on Dancing With The Stars until right before the reveal Monday night. Cher is beyond excited and if you don’t know this already, be sure to see her twitter timeline. She’s been defending his decision to dance against all the haters and negativity. Through it all, Chaz continues to hold his head up high and is going to continue to dance and do it the best he can. He also told Ryan he loves his parter Lacey Schwimmer. They hit it right off when they met and she hasn’t yelled at him once. All this and more below and at RyanSeacrest.com.

DWTS 13 Ron Artest Talks Dancing For A Cause And Has Cha Cha Cha For His First Dance

The LA Times has a great article up talking about why Ron Artest decided to dance on Dancing With The Stars this season. For one thing he couldn’t say “no” to his daughter Diamond who was diagnosed with cancer when she was four. In honor of how she fought the illness, he plans to donate the money he earns on Dancing With The Stars to the Cancer Research Foundation. The take below also mentions how Ron didn’t want to dance at first and how he even wanted to be eliminated the first round. But, he has since changed his mind and is seeking advise from boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. More below and at the link. Note too how he mentions having the “Cha-Cha-Cha” as his first dance.

It wasn’t just a case of Artest being unable to say no to his daughter. At age 4 in 2007, Diamond was diagnosed with wilms tumor, Artest said, a kidney cancer that affects children. So in honor of his daughter successfully fighting the illness, Artest said he plans to donate the money he earns on “Dancing with the Stars” to the Cancer Research Foundation.

That will include the $125,000 Artest said he’s making for appearing on the show beginning Sept. 19 and any additional money he earns should he advance in each round.

“That’s the only reason I’m doing it,” Artest said. “I’m doing it for a cause.”

Artest’s decision to join the show deviates from comments he made last season and this off-season. In March, Artest said he’d want to lose in the first round because “I don’t want to put my hips in a situation where I’m looking like Rick Fox.” Only a month ago after a stand-up comedy appearance, Artest said, “I play defense. I don’t know if I dance.” And late Sunday evening his publicist, Courtney Barnes, appeared amused in a series of text messages when asked whether Artest would join the show. Said Barnes: “He can’t dance.”

That’s why Artest said he and his unnamed partner have begun taking lessons and he plans to consult boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr., who lasted four rounds in 2007 during the show’s fifth season.

“I’m doing the Cha-cha-cha my first week,” Artest said. “We’re going to get past [the first round]. I want to work hard and see where it takes me. I don’t know how far I’m going to go, but I’m going to try.”

David Arquette Consults Howard Stern And Daughter Coco On Dancing With The Stars

According to MSNBC, one of the first people David Arquette called for advise on doing Dancing With The Stars was Howard Stern. Howard encouraged him so people could get to know him better. But, the advise didn’t end there. David also wants Howard to be his backstage coach. LOL Can you imagine? I hope Howard makes an appearance during David and Kym’s rehearsals. Wouldn’t that be funny?

“One of my first calls when I was considering it was to Howard,” the actor told Sirius-XM’s Howard 100 News today. “I asked him, ‘What do you think?’ They asked me last season too, and he said, ‘I think it would be a good opportunity for people to get to know you better,’ and that was one of my deciding factors.”

And Arquette is hoping that the teamwork doesn’t end there.

..”I want him to be my backstage coach,” he said, “to just help me out if he has any pointers, if he thinks I should focus on something, or what I’m doing wrong and sort of be part of the whole competition.”

David also asked his daughter if he should dance on the show. She wanted to talk with her friend Ashley about it first. LOL

Arquette also told E! News’ Ryan Seacrest today that he asked daughter Coco what she thought of daddy doing “Dancing With the Stars.”

“And she said, ‘Initially, my feeling is no, but let me go to school and talk it over with my friend Ashley,'” he said, laughing. “I said, ‘Wait, you can’t talk about it with Ashley, it’s a pretty big secret.'”

More at the MSNBC. He also told US Weekly his daughter is a little worried. More below….

“My daughter Coco is a little worried I’ll embarrass her, and I’m sure I will…But ultimately I think she’ll be excited to see me perform and I look forward to when maybe she gets past the embarrassment, maybe she’ll want to learn a few moves with me! I’d love to dance with her and have her be a part of this.”

Behind The Scenes Of The Dancing With The Stars 13 Title Photoshoot Yesterday

Ok, so this may not be much, but, here are a couple of “behind the scenes” pictures of the Dancing With The Stars Title Shoot yesterday. Kristin, Nancy, and Chynna posted these pictures at their twitter accounts. These may or may not be the costumes they are wearing, but, it’s fun to wonder on. Also, it will get Courtney’s photographic memory going for the Who Wore It Better posts in case these costumes have been used before. Again, these may or may not be the costumes they will be photographed in. Stay tuned, as Courtney stated in the new Pairings Post this morning, “If this season follows the pattern of previous seasons, the Title photos will be released either tomorrow or Friday.” Time will soon tell.

So, what do you think?

I have to say this color of green looks spectacular on Chynna if this is what she wore. She wore a similar green for the Cast Announcement Monday night. She definitely has a “Spring” fashion personality.

How about this dress for Nancy Grace? Too dramatic or just right?

Kristin would look dazzling in this gold number….and especailly if she matches it with the right gold or nude colored pumps.

Adding: And below is what Ricki tweeted on her Title dress. Stunning. She will look beautiful in black.

Hope Solo in a dark maroon glittery number. Wow, classy!

JR and Karina: Come on JR! Can’t you show us more?

Elisa in a white sparkly number having fun!

More Hope. This time looking intense with Maks!

More Ricki!! Here’s the dress she decided on….

Chaz and Lacey looking quite dashing!!

Chynna and Nancy teasing us again!

And finally, Carson and Anna…

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

DWTS Season 13 Stats: Pre Season Elimination Predictions

UPDATE: I have changed Elisabetta’s occupation from Model to Actress… note how this changes the rankings.

Hello All! Marianya here… as always every season I try to predict via a series of really complex calculations, statistics, analysis and sometimes gut instinct who will be eliminated, when through the upcoming season of Dancing With the Stars. Sometimes I’m right on point, other times I’m way off base.

Since we won’t officially know celebrity/professional partner pairings until tomorrow (Wednesday) I figure let’s see how the celebrities stand at the moment.

Now if you recall from previous season I use three main factors in calculating placement for the celebrities:
1) Age – probably not too surprising, age plays a role in how a celebrity does on the dance floor. On average the younger celebrities do far better than their elders. Once in a while this may not be the case… for example those in their Teens, 20s, and 30s dominate the placements, but instead of being followed by celebs in their 40s, it is the celebs in their 60s that do well followed by 40s, 70s, 50s and finally 80s.
2) Occupation – believe it or not, what the celeb is primarily known for (aka their primary occupation) plays a factor in their dancing capability. It is a known belief that athletes tend fare far better than comedians, actors/actresses, reality stars, etc… But I break the fields down even further to Olympians, those from the NBA or NFL, boxers and any other athletes that do not fit any of the previous categories. I also separate Actor from Actress, Reality TV Stars get their own category.
3) Professional Partner – this is theoretically suppose to reflect the varying teaching styles of the professional dancers. Granted with a poor student a professional dancer’s teaching style could only go so far, but I think considering all the other varying circumstances of the other categories, this would also be a prime factor to account for.

I will include my own opinion on the matter… but the ranking system is all mathematically based… granted how I break the celebs down is primarily subjective and as thus comments are more than welcome if you believe that there is a better way to describe a particular celebrity.

More beyond the break

My life can be summed up in the following two quotes: 1) "I am married to engineering and am its faithful wife by day, but at night my wanderlust takes hold and the arts becomes my jealous paramour." and... 2) "Engineering is my safety net. Writing is my passion. Acting is my escape when the other two become too much." So where does dancing fit in? Pretty much anywhere at this point... =)

Las Vegas Odds to Win Dancing With The Stars Season 13 And DWTS Homage

Would you believe the people in Vegas are already placing their bets and without even knowing who their partners are yet? Gambling911 is putting Elisabetta, Carson, and Kristin in the top three. More below. It will fun to see how the odds change in the coming weeks and compare it to this one.

Elisabetta Canalis 3/1

Carson Kressley 4/1

Kristin Cavallari 5/1

Chynna Phillips 6/1

Robert Kardashian 15/2

Hope Solo 8/1

David Arquette 10/1

Ron Artest 10/1

J.R. Martinez 12/1

Ricki Lake 15/1

Nancy Grace 18/1

Chaz Bono 20/1

Heidi’s Note: For a little perspective on these odds, take a look at the odds from the same time frame last season. Illuminating.

With that said, here is a little Dancing With The Stars Season 13 Homage to go with this post written by Linde….

It appears I may have started a tradition back in Season 11 with my ditty to the tune of I NEED A NEW DRUG, then last season – with help from Evaine & Zach with our WAX ON WAX OFF roundup. Well, ya’ll know how much we love our traditions down here in the South, so here’s my homage to Season 13:

Monday Monday, Ricki’s thrilled it’s here
Monday Monday, it was all Hope dreamt it would be
And Monday morning, Monday morning couldn’t guarantee
that Monday evening Rob wouldn’t be a dancin’ freak

Monday Monday, Chynna’s favorite day
Monday Monday, sometimes Ron’s feet get in his way
Oh Monday morning, Dave gave us no warning of what was to be
Oh Monday Monday, how could Chaz dance and not be freed

Every other day, every other day,
Every other day of the week is fine, yeah
But whenever Monday comes, but whenever Monday comes
you’ll find Elisabetta is dancin’ with style

Monday Monday, JR’s glad he’s here
Monday Monday, it was all that Carson feared it to be
And Monday morning, Monday morning couldn’t really foresee
that Monday evening it’s Nancy’s night, with us on our feet

Every other day, every other day,
Every other day of the week is fine, yeah
But whenever Monday comes, but whenever Monday comes
you’ll find that Kristin is dancin’ live

Monday, Monday ….
such a lovely day
