Dancing with the Stars Season 22, Week 2 – Live Blog!! (Spoilers)

Okay, what I’m going to be looking for this week is Jodie and Ginger – will their pros do a better job for them this week in terms of choreo and content? I’m also looking for that typical fall from grace that often happens in week 2 when there is less time to rehearse – who will fall victim to this pseudo curse? 🙂

I suppose that was a Mandy Moore special? Tiny bit better than anything she’s done recently.

WTF Geraldo??

Oh dear, Jodie. Deep breath. It’s only week 2 and you have a shot. Come on Keo, show us what you’re made of.

Okay, I liked Jodie – better choreo this week but she’s moving a little delicately at times. Read more..

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

DWTS Week 2 Rehearsal Interview With Jodie Sweetin And Keo Motsepe And New Blog

E Online interviewed Jodie Sweetin and Keo Motsepe in rehearsals for Dancing With The Stars week 2.

Jodie has also written a new blog for People. Here is a little take from the link. You know where to go for more.

For Latin week, Keo and I are dancing a samba. Keo has been a great teacher, but this is the first time since we started rehearsing that I felt like I wasn’t picking up the steps fast enough. That was tough for me but I think I’m a stronger dancer – and person, really – because I was able to buckle down and get the steps.

Also making this week a little more difficult is that our samba is much more sexy than last week’s tango. It took a few days for me to feel comfortable with the routine.

DWTS Week 2 Doug Flutie And Geraldo Rivera Not Going Out Without A Fight

Geraldo Rivera and Doug Flutie may have been in the bottom half of the leader board on Dancing With The Stars week one, but, neither of them are going out tonight without a fight. Below is more from ABC.

Geraldo Rivera received the lowest score on last week’s premiere. His goal for Monday night is to advance and last longer than another journalist who competed on the show a decade ago.

“I would be extremely disappointed that I didn’t beat Tucker Carlson, who went home in the first week,” Rivera tells ABC Radio. “I’d be extremely disappointed. But, you know, someone’s gotta go. But we’re going to really try.”

Former football star Doug Flutie was also in the bottom half of the leader board last week, but his pro partner, Karina Smirnoff, is maintaining a positive attitude.

“We’re not going to concentrate on the scores, we’re going to concentrate on the fact that we had the whole ballroom screaming ‘Flutie,'” she explained. “We need to come back and hit it out of the ballpark week two.”

See ABC to read more.

ETA: To read Karina’s Smirnoff’s new blog, visit People. Below is a take on her dance tonight with partner Doug Flutie. Note how their dance is dedicated to the Doug Flutie, Jr. Foundation for Autism.

It’s Latin night and we’re doing the a paso doble, which is a fighting dance. I’d say he’s just identifying with it because it’s such a strong dance, but it’s really in general that he’s becoming a better and better dancer.

Doug was upset about the scores last week, but he’s looking at each week as a clean slate, and I really do think we can go out there and improve our standing significantly.

Doug is also excited to do this routine tonight in honor of his family. He’s dedicating our paso doble to the Doug Flutie, Jr. Foundation for Autism. Doug loves his family and that passion is bringing an extra special element to our performance.

Doug spent his entire NFL career fighting to prove himself, and now he’s ready to go out there and do the same thing on the dance floor.

More at People.

Costume Designers Steven Lee And Daniela Gschwendtner Interviewed About DWTS And More

Rue Now talked with Dancing With The Stars costume designers Steven Lee and Daniela Gschwendtner. Read on for how complex and challenging designing can be. I love what they said about Mark Ballas.

RLL: From the jive to the paso doble, we know the dances are certainly complex. Is there a dance genre that’s more complex when it comes to the costumes?
SL and DG: Each dance has its own complexity. But since we’ve created all the costumes for so long, there’s no difference in difficulty between the dances.

RLL: Each week, there’s a time crunch. How long is the concepting phase, and how many people are on your team to get the job done?
SL and DG: Our time frame from concept to completion is from Tuesday to Monday. That gives us less than a week to sketch, shop fabrics, build, fit, and rhinestone the costumes – time is always tight.

RLL: We know Mark Ballas tends to choreograph some pretty out-there routines. From a costume perspective, is this something you look forward to?
SL and DG: Mark is always very creative – we really enjoy collaborating with him. He usually wants designs that are unique, and it really challenges us to make them come to life. It often involves unusual fabrics, custom painting, and textural leathers and materials. We can really think outside of the box when designing for Mark and his partners.

Artem Chigvinstev In New DWTS Week 2 Blog: “Latin is a much better fit for Mischa…”

Artem Chigvinstev has written a new Dancing With The Stars blog at Just Jared Jr. He talks of the rough week he and Mischa Barton have had, but, they are feeling positive about tonight’s dance.

“This week has been a bit rough. We had to come back from the judges comments and it wasn’t easy. The comments definitely had an impact on Mischa.

“Latin is a much better fit for Mischa, and I’ve seen her smile way more this week than the past few weeks.

I’m hoping that this week we get a good response from the judges, and that we feel positive about our performance.”

More at Just Jared Jr including photos.

ETA: To read Mischa’s new blog, see People. She’s excited to dance a brighter dance this week and show she’s having fun. For more on last week’s dance, visit the link.

I’m excited for Latin week tonight because we are doing a cha-cha-cha. It’s a bright, fun dance and I’m excited to get to show off that side of my personality.

I also think it will help us get better scores because this routine is a lot more engaging than our tango. Hopefully the judges will be able to appreciate our smiley, happy dance and not have to focus as much on posture and other details that were way more noticeable during last week’s dance.

I know I’m never going to be a professional ballroom dancer. So for me, this experience is about having as much fun as possible. I got to pick our song this week and I love getting to have a say in what we wear. And I love that I’m picking up the routines faster and faster.

I just hope that comes across tonight because I’m having a blast.
