Dancing with the Stars Season 22, Week 9 – Who’s Dancing What…and When?

Well, prepare for me to be pissed off the remainder of the season. 🙂 They’ve overscored Ginger and Antonio to the point that the people who have been consistently performing all season long may not make it to the finale along with Nyle. One bad dance shouldn’t take out a man who’s been out performing both Ginger and Antonio for WEEKS now. My numbers post will likely be bitter. 🙂

ETA: AcCam says that E! said that Artem is in a trio with Ginger.

ETA2: According to People, Wanya and Lindsay have a Charleston for their Trio dance. ~ Vogue

ETA3: Apparently, Mark said on Afterbuzz that their trio partner is Alan. ~Heidi

ETA4: According to Extra, Antonio and Sharna have a Contemporary dance. Sharna also said they are allowed to do lifts this week. ~Vogue

ETA5: The rest of the dance info has been filled in via Disney ABC.

Dancing with the Stars Season 22, Week 8 – Live Blog!! (Spoilers)

I can’t believe we’re in week 8 already and the season is nearly over!! Shocking how fast this spring is flying by. I guess it’s all the sooner that I get to fly to NYC and see Derek on Broadway. 🙂 Speaking of Derek – Bindi is going to be in the audience tonight and, I suspect, next week as well since her family is having the Steve Irwin Gala Dinner in LA on May 21 – Tom Bergeron is the MC for the event and Derek will be there, as will BC Jean, who is performing. With or without Mark, I guess depending on if he’s in the finale or not.  You can get tickets, if you’re in LA.

40 Minutes to show time. About. 😉

Hm. Opening number started great, had a TON of potential, great song…but it kinda fizzled towards the end and I’m not sure why.

Jaysus, starting with the stupid jeopardy call right at the beginning of the show.

Nyle and Peta are SAFE.

Peta is taking a pretty big risk here with the sound dropping out during their dance. I think it’s a brilliant idea but I’m a tad nervous. If they pull it off, they could well win the show.

Okay, that was freakin’ amazing. Still a little bit of a posture problem. It also seemed like the producers cheated a bit – they just turned off all the studio mics and didn’t stop the audience from clapping. Really though – he attacked it and I dug it.

I confess that the silence did choke me up a bit too.  Aaannnnd…that score is about right.

Oh man, please tell me that Lindsay isn’t using the same staging as Derek did for Amber….

This is stupid.  But YAY Paige and Mark are safe!!

Jodie and Keo are in jeopardy.

Antonio and Sharna also in jeopardy.

Well, that was a pretty good dance from Antonio but it started with Sharna doing all the work. And his arms were really weird.

Jodie and Keo – dude should stop reading this site.

Good Jive content, but were there a lot of breaks in that dance or was it just me?? Also wearing sneakers is a tad of a cheat.

All that gushing makes me think Jodie is leaving.

You mean to tell me that Jodie’s dance was a good as Paige’s last week and deserved a 30?  No freakin’ way.

Mark does resemble Jon Snow a bit…

Not sure how I felt about that V. Waltz – it was pretty and then I got a bit confused by the choreo. I guess they were getting “frozen”?? Paige is an excellent dancer though. And I’m really glad that Mark didn’t go to crazy with the production. Very glad that CAI didn’t call that jump/lift thing they did. Risky.

And again, if Jodie gets a perfect score, Paige should be getting a 40.

Ginger and Val are safe. Wanya and Lindsay in jeopardy. And that should be the end of Ginger next week.

Ginger did a good job with that AT, but it wasn’t terribly exciting. It reminded me of Rumer, with the black costumes. I suspect they’ll give her 10’s to get her into the finale.

Glad we have another dance coming up. Val finally finds his choreo 8 weeks in and they’ll get her into the finale over someone like Paige who’s been amazing all the way through.

If you are fans of Wanya or Paige, you best be voting your fingers off. If Ginger gets a perfect score on the second dance, she’ll go to the finale unless you all kill it.

Fun package – very funny.

DAMN it. Slipped on the rag. Was going so well. Fun choreography, fast – enjoyed it…and then the slip.

Shut up, CAI. His mistakes all happened AFTER that slip. He recovered like a pro.

Why are people like Ginger not getting comments about pushing themselves?? Ginger’s been playing it safe since week 1.

I give up.

Bruno’s dance was fantastic – I love how the women danced together, then the men danced together and then Nyle and Jodie did as well. Jodie didn’t have enough attack and missed a step towards the end.  I sure hope we’re not going to do the ridiculous “everyone gets a 10” BS. I’d give that one straight nines.

If they give Team Len 10’s I cry foul. That dance was just…blah. Not even Wanya could fix it. I kinda feel like we’ve been tricked – if we want Wanya to do well, we have to reward Ginger’s lack of latin hips.

This is seriously ridiculous. If the judges don’t have the balls to actually score each other, then they shouldn’t do this challenge.

Good dance from Team CAI – not quite as good as Team Bruno, I don’t think. It kinda ran out of steam at the end I thought.

Now for the elimination.

Antonio and Sharna are safe.

ELIMINATED: Jodie and Keo

Jodie goes out with a great deal of class.

How did we do?

Heidi: Said Jodie was leaving

Courtney: Said Jodie was leaving

Vogue: Said Jodie was leaving

NEXT WEEK Is double elimination. It’s going to be ugly folks. If you are a fan of either Wanya or Paige, I can’t stress voting enough.

DWTS Season 22, Week 7 – Dancing by the Numbers

I must say, week 7 of Season 22 was exceptionally dull until about the halfway point of the night. Super dullsville until we got to (surprise, surprise) Wanya and Lindsay. Major props to Lindsay for bringing the whimsical style foxtrot to the show – I could totally see Derek choreographing that dance. I can’t give a bigger compliment. Was it perfectly executed? No – but I loved it more than one of the so-called perfect dances.

Which brings me to Val and Ginger. I LOVED that dance. I thought it was beautiful. Would I have given it a 30? Based on what I had seen up to that point on Monday night, no – probably a 28 or 29.  When comparing it to Nyle, Wanya and Paige’s dances earlier in the season, it wasn’t even close to a 30. When stacked up side by side with Paige’s dance on the same night – not even close. Paige’s dance was jam packed with content, was extremely fast, harder, and better performed. Were both dances perfect? No. Paige had a couple sync issues while Ginger’s arms got thrown away more than once. I find it a disservice to both women to give those dances the same perfect score when Paige is dancing at a much higher level. Not only that, but (as has happened in the past to Val and Maks’ partners) she will now expect high scores for less than perfect dancing and will be upset if and when it doesn’t happen.  She will be blindsided. And Val will not help her temper her expectations – we saw that with Maks many times. They buy into their own PR instead of attempting to be pragmatic or realistic. Read more..

Dancing With The Stars Mid-Week Media Starter: Interviews, Backstage Goodies, And Blogs

Lots coming up today! For starters, below are some interviews from Extra after the Dancing With The Stars Monday night! Awwww, I’m going to miss Von & Witney and Kim & Sasha!! Keep scrolling down…

Amma Slater also wrote a review of the dances at Hollywood Life. She was sad about the eliminations like we were. I love what she said on Sasha. Be sure to read the link for more as she wouldn’t have given any 10’s. There’s a cute photo of her and Sasha too. She also talks on seeing Alek Skarlatos.

Sadly though, Kim & Sasha were eliminated along with Von & Witney in a double elimination. I’m so sad that their journey has come to an end but I can’t help but be proud. Kim will look back and reflect on her season with such fond memories. It might be hard to swallow now, eliminations are horrible no matter what. I know she has made a life long friend in Sasha. And even if she tried, she wouldn’t be able to escape his daily texts! He’s quite persistent. I’m very proud of them both for their incredible season. As for Sash in particular, watching him as a pro this season was incredible. It meant so much to him. He truly deserves to be there based on his skill alone but then he has something else too. He’s a cheeky charmer who has a unique fun personality. He completely dotes on his partners and gives them the earth. It’s so refreshing to see this funny banter shine through. Sometimes you don’t get to see the soft, caring side to Sasha between the jokes, pranks and selfie faces (which he’s notorious for!!). However this season I think the people at home got to see more of him. The support he’s received has truly overwhelmed him. So thank you for that. Sash, I’m so proud of you.

Lastly, don’t miss reading Sharna’s new blog at Extra. She writes on her wardrobe malfunction. She also says Antonio is more driven than ever.

Antonio has a new focus and drive in this competition. He has fully switched gears and is ready to give this absolutely everything he’s got. He is willing to fly wherever he needs to go to ensure he can have practice with his quarterback, and trying to make it to rehearsals. Antonio Brown wants this. I have to say even though I think we should’ve had nines last night, the fact that we still have not had our perfect score is really driving him.

For anyone that knows Antonio Brown’s story, he was a sixth round pick in the NFL. He got looked over five times before that. He is someone that does smile in the face of adversity and that does drive from the bottom to dominate his competition. I feel that can directly correlate back to his experience on the show. For the first five weeks, no one was really too sure about his abilities and his drive. But now in Week 6 and 7, he has shown his improvement and how ready he is to take it to the end.

Speaking of Antonio, 247 Sports reports he went straight to training after Monday night.

Make no mistake, football is still Antonio Brown’s top priority.

On Monday, just hours after appearing on “Dancing with the Stars” in Los Angeles, Brown was at the Steelers’ practice facility in Pittsburgh, as the team begins Phase Two of it’s offseason workout plan.

While he hasn’t spent much time at the Steelers’ practice facility this offseason, Brown hasn’t spent any time away from his training. He’s constantly posting Snapchat videos of his workouts, and recently, it was revealed that he is working out at Nabie “The Speed Doctor” Fofanah’s training facility in California in between training and filming for DWTS.

WTAE also talked with Antonio at this link. They ask him about the differences between doing DWTS and football and lots more. They also talked with a few of the couples here. This link has a really fun gallery too of the cast getting ready for the show backstage. You can see the designers talking about how they put the costumes together at Variety too.

ETA: More interviews from Access Hollywood….

ETA2: And more…
