DWTS16 Val Chmerkovskiy And Zendaya Shake it Up On Good Morning America (Video)
Zendaya tells Good Mornng America today that hip hop dancing is nothing like Ballroom dancing. She’s learning to loosen up more. Val Chmerkovskiy explains the differences. Zendaya has also received some advice from former Dancingg With The Stars contestant Roshon Fegan about blowing her nose before she hits the stage. More on that funny advise and more below….
Thanks to @DWTSgossip and MrDraft Central You Tube for this link and now I can get ready for work early.

Don’t underestimate the fanbase of Zendaya, I think she is much more popular than Roshon and he made it far on the show. Their show Shake-it-Up is on at least one of the TV’s in my house every evening. Even my 24 year old son watches it.
I just may have to loosen up on my C-Bros critique this season. I am somewhat anxious to see this different Mak-Free side of Val. Let’s see if he can bring it.
That’s what I said too! Don’t underestimate this girl’s fanbase. I said it before (and I know it rarely matters) but she has over 1M followers on Twitter while everyone else has like 500K. So she’s got a lot of people to influence to vote for her; and knowing twwn fanbases, they will do anything to please their “idol”. That, on top of the fact that she looks like she’s gonna be fierce! So she could really be a surprise when it comes to popularity. Not only that, but everyone misses Maks. Maks’ popularity has gone off the roof since he left, so him backing up his brother along with his very own fanbase is gonna be a huge help for Z & Val.
Nevertheless, I’m gonna be voting for them all season. I’m looking forward for a battle between Kellie & Zendaya in the finals. (I would say Aly but she hasn’t ocnvinced me yet
)
Roshon was in the bottom two in weeks 4, 6, 7 and was eliminated in week 8. The only reason he stuck around that long was because of being saved by dance duels against Gladys and Jaleel. He stayed WAY longer than he would have sans dance duel. If not for the dance duel he could have been eliminated week 6 and the people who left before him were Martina, Gavin, Gladys, Jack, Sherri, Melissa and Jaleel – with only Jaleel and Sherri being halfway decent dancers. And that’s a stretch.
You have to look at the whole of the season and what went on, not just where someone finished – Zendaya may have a bigger fanbase than him, but she may also have MUCH bigger competition. We won’t know until we see how they do in front of a live audience.
Maks popularity has gone off the roof?? Don’t confuse press (and that has seriously died) with popularity.
lol at the blowing the nose advice.
I too will be rooting for Z and Val this season. Although i dont question Zendaya having a lot a fans (just take one glance at her twitter), I question their willingness and availability to vote. A good chunk of her fans are in the preteen demo or international- ive seen so many ‘i love and support u Z, but im not allowed to vote’ tweets.
To go far on dwts, you have to win over the general audience votes…and outside of Kyle Massey, they dont have a reputation of being attached to young non-olympic stars.
Hoping her and val can win some over, but im not holding my breath
Wow, I’m really impressed with young Zen, so count me in her fanbase now. She’s adorable, smart, very alert, poised and funny. Beyond that, she appears sincerely invested in actually learning completely new dance skills. like what matters to her is gaining the skill set. That attitude of hers seems to give her a kind of natural humility, even though she’s confident and “hip.”
What I’m really trying to say is, I really like it that she’s not obnoxious (though I could only watch about 90 seconds of her Disney show when I checked it out). She and Val seem quite comfortable with each other and seem able to use their practice time effectively.
I’m pleased that Zendaya hasn’t come off as an obnoxious teenager and hope she stays that way throughout the season. She’s coming off as very likable to me and she moves so well. I think Val’s popularity will grow in that we get to see him acting “normal” for lack of a better word. I’m excited to see him as a teacher and a real person, not doing some bad soap acting (a’la Kelly) for attention and without Maks in the picture. I only hope Zendaya can get the votes out as much as some of the big stars will be able to.
I certainly don’t think everyone misses Maks or he would have been asked back. I wish him well but I won’t miss him.
I’m very impressed with this young woman and look forward to seeing how she and Val develop their partnership and what they bring to the dance floor. I think Val’s strategy is going to be: showcase “Zendaya the ballroom dancer”. If they go that route, I can see Len falling in love with her.
The Maks I rooted for hasn’t been around for a long time. That’s the Maks I miss. I hope this break (temporary or permanent) does good things for him both personally and professionally.
Same here.^ I hope the break does Maks good too.
Lol, I like her. Very sweet and charming.
There’s going to be some fantastic dancing this season isnt’ there?! These 2 could really wow the audience and I think Val now has enough experience with the show to know how it works and to work hard to make Zendaya shine. Could be some fierce competition for top half, especially for semi’s and finals. I hope we get a finals with those who truly are the best in terms of complete package. I have my favorites but I don’t mind them being bumped by others who turn out to be exceptional. Val is not my favorite pro but if they bring it then I’ll be happy enough.
