Dancing with the Stars Season 28, Week SIX – LIVE BLOG

No idea what to expect tonight, other than a very disappointing elimination.  You?

T-minus 30 minutes…

Remember to include context when commenting!! Here we gooooo….

Okay….that was weird. I don’t get it. What am I missing? Why did James run away? Where was Hannah (and Karamo?)?

Ally going first tonight! CAI talking about how amazing she’s been. Agreed. She’s very cute. I like her.  Quickstep to “Take on Me” by Aha.  Love this song. Remember when the video came out.

They were off time that whole opening. That production was a bad idea. Seems like she gets it back. Liked that run down the center. Mis-step after that big circle thing they did. Should not be 9s, but maybe 8s.

Len: First out – first class. Nice mix of steps, nice frame. Here and there foot faults. full of Energy.

Bruno: So bright I need sunglasses. Very enthusiastic. Very fast, lost synchronicity in the foot work. (agreed). Body contact was good.

CAI: Agree with Bruno. Loved the concept, really challenging to start in two separate areas (agreed). Len is blind as a bat.  You have excelled.

No Tom, judges are on target for a change. Except for Len.

Scores: 8, 9, 8 for a total of 25 (Once again I feel like Len knows what’s going on vote-wise, whereas the others don’t).

Looks like my original prediction for Ally was right on target.

Kate is up next with her V.Waltz to “I have nothing” by Witney Houston. She’s so down to earth and she’s so right.

Pasha looks very handsome here. Smooth it out a bit Kate.  That’s a whole lot of spinning.  But it works with the song.  That was a lovely dance. Very well done. Few minor issues, like her butt was out at one point, just a little. But really good.

Bruno: Romantic, always in the best possible taste, your own interpretation to VW. Really really good.

CAI: Learning technique pays off in spades. Victorious VW ever. Way to own it.

Kate: I’m a happy chappy. There’s a step called the fleckle and I never see it. Proud of Pasha for putting it in. Great performance, well done.

Scores: 9, 9, 9 for a total of 27.  Called that score as well!

Kel is up next with his quickstep. His song is “Part Time Lover” by Stevie Wonder. LOL – love the dodgeball idea.

Dig the outfit, dig the opening. Wow. He’s doing really well. Much better than I thought he would. This is better than Ally’s!! Excellent job!

CAI: Teamwork makes the dreamwork. Matching steps, synchronicity. ridiculously amazing. She saw a mis-step (disagreed).

Len: Major incident over here. However, apart from that I thought you did an amazing job.  (I missed the incident. )

Bruno: Full time dancer, apart from misunderstanding, executed with lightness and musicality. Excellent work.

I thought it was better than Ally’s quickstep by quite a bit.  It better not get a lower score.

Scores: 9, 8, 9 for a total of 26 – that’s about right, IMO.  Dang…I got it right on my second set of guesses, off by a point on my first.

Karamo and Jenna are up next with a very sad story about his father.  But he reached out and apologized. They’re doing contemporary to “Someone to Love”.

Started off a tiny bit stiff, but got into it quickly. Occasionally robotic, it’s like some moves feel good to him and others don’t feel authentic.  But really, a pretty damn good job!!

Len: fluid, lovely flow. Great lifts. Lovely light and shade. Really, really well constructed dance (WTF?).

Bruno: Focus and intention, no moments of self doubt. Wonderful balance of strength and fluidity.

CAI: Love is a powerful thing. Could feel the love, passion, connection. Congratulations.

Scores: 9, 8, 8 for a total of 25 out of 30. Very good job. That 9 was a little high, but he needs it badly.

NUMBERS UPDATE: Karamo may currently be on the bottom, but there is only 11k to 13k between him and the people above him. That ain’t nothing.

Hannah up next with her Samba…love that dress but it’s not very Samba-y. Hannah homesick.  Dancing to Carrie Underwood.

She’s doing better than I thought she would. She looks like she’s having fun. I’ve never been a samba fan. Liked that funky bit in the middle. Pretty darn good!

Bruno: Brings brazil to nashville. Very difficult to combine country with samba motion.  Loses natural bounce.

CAI: you are phenomenal dancer. Ahead of the beat. Picks on the song – which I agree with.

Len: Not an easy routine, and you coped very well, full of content. Liked the flair. More pressure through your feel.

Scores: 8, 8, 8 for a 24 out of 30.  Dang. I’m batting a thousand – called that one as well.

Sailor up next with a jive. This actually isn’t a bad idea that Val has for practicing in public.

Oh man, who are all these other people. Okay, they’re not dancing. I can handle that. Not sure what that face was about. Not really feeling this dance and I’m not sure why. She’s a little off balance. And she’s lip syncing again. It was good…but there was something weird about it and I don’t know what.

CAI: That was amazing, you’re so animated. I had fun.

Len: I don’t need waking up. That was full of taste and flavor. Full of wham and personality.

Oh lord, Val given the opportunity to go on.

Bruno: You’ve got it all. It was a great jive, she was playing it.

Scores: 9, 9, 9 for a total of 27 which seems a bit over scored. Makes me wonder if she needs that score…

For those keeping track, I have guessed all the scores right so far, however, Sailor and Kel were in my second set of guesses while the others were in my first guess.

NUMBERS UPDATE: There are only 6.7k votes between Hannah and Karamo, while he needs 11.3k to get past Kate/Sailor and 15k to get past Ally or Kel.  Everything hinges, really, on what S___ does with his dance. If Karamo is in the bottom with anyone other than him, I suspect he will be the one eliminated.

CAI and Bruno have good critiques of Lindsay’s partner…but why don’t they score him accordingly??

They’re doing a V. Waltz.  Talk about perma-smile. Lindsay is beautiful as usual. Lord, her legs are ten miles long.  Side step..side step…side step. Stumble…stumble.  Lindsay talking up a storm.  🙂

Len: I admire your tenacity and your hard work. You come out and give it your all.

Bruno: Smartest you’ve ever looked. Steps were all there but looked like tumbleweed at times.

CAI: There was a nice tenderness. You were keeping your feet out from under you. You do try hard.

Audience is on fuckin’ crack for booing the exceedingly kind judges.

Scores: 7, 7, 7 for a total of 21…you’ve got to be kidding me.  For effort, Bruno?? WTF?

Remember when I said the judges would do something really stupid?? You just saw it. Only way that makes sense is if he’s in the bottom.

NUMBERS UPDATE: Well, good news is that there is 13.5k votes between Sean and Karamo, and 20.2k votes between Sean and Hannah. But those really aren’t that huge numbers. Between S___ and Ally/Kel there are 27k votes per million while there is 24k votes per million between him and Sailor/Kate. The problem is that there aren’t that many points between Hannah and everyone above her, meaning that any one of them could end up in the bottom with S___. Or Karamo. Could get iffy.

James is up next with his Samba to “Light it Up” by Diplo. At least he got music resembling a Samba, unlike Hannah. But you know, she’s favored. Ummmhmmm….

He’s doing quite well. Still not a samba fan. Never cared for Derek’s sambas even.  Seemed pretty good though.

Bruno: Close encounters of the hips kind.

CAI: off the charts.  Amazing hips. Tiny note: sometime you do the movements so big they can get out of proportion to your body.

Len: I’m not typing what Len says about his bum. Really, really good samba.

Scores: 9, 9, 9 for a total of 27. Not that it matters, he’s not going anywhere.

Lauren not only gets contemporary, but the big emotional story this week.

For those keeping track, I was a point too high on my guess for James (second guess round) and I was two points off on S___ because I didn’t think the judges would score on effort (they learned nothing from Bones, apparently). You know, we have all new BTS people and I don’t think we can count on them to do things the way the previous group did – pimping, favoring, picking someone to win and trying to steer it that way – but we can count on the judge to learn absolutely nothing from one season to the next. Either they have no clue on the voting and are just stupidly assuming, or they do know the voting and don’t care.

This is a very sad story of Lauren’s step father. So YOUNG when he died. Wish she had a decent partner, because I like the girl.  Dang, her mom is young too. Okay, not I’m crying too.

Seeing some Kellie Pickler contemporary moves in here. Gleb went to youtube. She’s doing quite well, but it’s not going to be worthy of the score it will likely get. There were a few awkward moments but all in all it was well done. She’s going to get a ten.

CAI: You’re a brave woman. Touched all of our hearts. Compliments Gleb on the choreography (?!?!).

Len: Such a brave thing to do, to come out and dance with so much emotion.

Bruno: Very sad but it makes me happy to see so much truth and honesty.

Scores: 9, 8, 9 for a total of 26 – okay, the judges didn’t get carried away and I agree with that score.  I’m still crying. I know what it’s like to lose a dad. To lose one that young just doesn’t seem fair.

Hannah and Lauren tied with Karamo and S___ below them.  I have no idea what’s going to happen, but I suspect I’m going to be pissed at the judges for the score for S___.  It’s possible he got so many votes that it didn’t matter…that will also just piss me off. What is wrong with this country?

Okay here we go….Erin shakes her head. Unconscious tell?

SAFE: Lauren

SAFE:  Karamo (!!)

SAFE: Kate

SAFE: Kel (Uh oh)

SAFE: James

SAFE: S___  (shit)

SAFE: Hannah

WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU AMERICA???

CAI: Ally

Bruno: Ally

Sailor is eliminated in an utter bullshit deal. Those two women should not have been in the bottom two – not even close.

Man, this show just pisses me off so bad.
