PureDWTS Season 21, Week 3 – Who’s Dancing What…and When?

And already, we’re talking week 3 – it’s “TV Icons” week, and Alfonso is the guest judge. If my gut tells me anything, it’s that we might see some TV themes from past seasons reused, just to save time and money. But I’m sure there will be some new blood mixed in, too – I’d love to see someone dance to the theme from The Sopranos, but that’s just me 🙂

ETA: Sure sounds like Paula & Louis have Gilligan’s Island as their TV theme.  The question is: what the hell kinda dance are they doing? Almost sounds like a paso doble to me…and apparently Carlos has salsa. And Tamar revealed on The Real that she has tango, I guess.  Taking you guys’ word for it on a lot of this stuff, cause I just can’t keep up…

ETA2: Based on the press release Vogue just posted, here’s the music for Monday night’s show.  Gotta say – I’m actually pretty impressed with what they were able to clear 🙂 Love Breaking Bad theme – hope Mark comes up with some really edgy contemporary routine to it. I think Tamar & Val hit the jackpot with the Mad Men theme, which Derek actually choreographed a pretty cool tango to w/Allison for the Emmy live show a few years back.  Looks like Andy & Allison may have gotten a song switched on them – but Bandstand is still fun. I may or may not have wet myself upon see “Thank You For Being a Friend” from The Golden Girls on here – but a SALSA??? Seriously???

ETA3: Vogue here! According to Derek’s new blog, he and Bindi have a quickstep. What a messed up week it’s been though since they couldn’t get their first song cleared at first. Be sure to read why HERE.

ETA4: Nick dancing “second last” according to Sharna. -Heidi

Alek and Lindsay – ? (Song: Theme from True Blood)

Ultrasound sales specialist by day, semi-knowledgeable DWTS fan by night...with a smattering of hair & makeup enthusiast, occasional model, baker, and crazy cat lady peppered in to make things REALLY interesting ;-) I might pee my pants in happiness if Donnie Wahlberg ever does DWTS - or if they ever use "Sunglasses at Night" as a paso doble.

PureDWTS Season 21, Week 2, Tuesday – Power Rankings

And judging by the overall demeanor of the couples and judges last night, kids – DOING TWO DANCES IN WEEK 2 IS NOT A GOOD IDEA. Just felt like everyone was stressed-out and feeling the strain – I dug hearing about everybody’s hometown, but I don’t know that it was worth it to see everyone so on-edge. Glad we’re back to just ONE dance per week next week.

Something else I’m glad about next week? Alfonso at the judges table to hopefully give some positive, relevant critiques – because tonight, the judges table on the whole just seemed like a bunch of petty, bickering toddlers in need of a nap. Carrie Ann was the worst offender – wayyyy too hard on the couples last night, and prone to honing in on stupid sh*t (i.e. the ignominious “lift policing” – give it up, CA; it’s not relevant or cute). At times, I felt like grabbing all three judges, shaking them hard, and saying “You DO realize they had to do TWO dances this week, right? And it’s ONLY WEEK 2???”

Sad to see Victor go 🙁 But if I’m being honest, I’m not exactly surprised.  As an athlete from a more obscure sport with a less mainstream following, I knew Victor was likely going to struggle with votes. And while a lot of the Karina fans seemed eager to argue with me on Twitter that this season “was different” and that she “wouldn’t go out early like she did with Sean & Randy” – hate to say I told you so, but I told you so. If a more mainstream name like Randy couldn’t get the votes – Victor unfortunately didn’t stand a chance. Karina fans, you’re good power voters – but I don’t think you’ve reached the point where you can compensate for a celeb that has little to no voting fanbase.  It is what it is – and fingers crossed that we get an epic dance from Victor & Karina at the finale 🙂

Monday’s power rankings are here if anyone needs to catch up. Read more..

Pure Dancing With The Stars Season 21 Week 2 Night 2 Media And Interviews

I’m still sad about Victor and Karina being eliminated, but, I’m so glad he danced on Dancing With The Stars. He might have been a little guy, but, he has a huge heart and he danced with it in the same way as he jockeys. Victor, thank you for dancing!! We are all the better for it and getting to know you!

So, onto the scores. I was having issues with my stream last night and I missed how Tamar and Val scored the highest. WHA? I reviewed their dance again just now and I don’t get it, but, ok. 😕 In my opinion, Nick and Sharna should have been at the very top.

Tamar Braxton and Val Chmerkovskiy: 25 of 30
Nick Carter and Sharna Burgess: 24 of 30
Bindi Irwin and Derek Hough: 23 of 30
Hayes Grier and Emma Slater: 23 of 30
Andy Grammer and Allison Holker: 23 of 30
Alek Skarlatos and Lindsay Arnold: 22 of 30
Alexa PenaVega and Mark Ballas: 22 of 30
Carlos PenaVega and Witney Carson: 21 of 30
Victor Espinoza and Karina Smirnoff (eliminated): 20 of 30
Paula Deen and Louis van Amstel: 18 of 30
Kim Zolciak-Biermann and Tony Dovolani: 18 of 30
Gary Busey and Anna Trebunskaya: 15 of 30

Now onto some interviews. First, check Extra for some ‘behind the scenes’ goodies with Allison and Andy. Then see E Online for their interviews (so far, there is just one up). Then watch and read below. Note that the cast so far hasn’t revealed any dances yet for next week. Keep checking back as we update through out the day. Also, stay tuned for our exclusive interview with Sharna Burgess later. 😉

Dancing with the Stars Season 21, Week 2 – Tuesday Night LIVE BLOG

And onto night 2 of the “Hometown Glory” extravaganza – and tonight it’s the pros’ turn 🙂 If you want a refresher of what went down last night, here’s Monday’s live blog post, and my power rankings and Heidi’s numbers headed into tonight’s show.  Sorry kids – had to unsticky ’em, or else we’d just have an endless parade of stickies on the front page, and ain’t nobody got time to scroll through that 😉

Thoughts going into tonight’s show? I’m just happy to not be watching on a crappy internet feed, and that my asthma is in check thanks to a new inhaler (thanks to all who checked in on me today :-)). Actually kinda excited to see the pros’ talking about their hometowns – haven’t really gotten to see a ton of that.  Slightly disappointed we won’t get to see Keo’s – Deep Throat indicated his hometown package was REALLY neat. Still think Kim is on the chopping block, with *cringe* Victor possibly on the bubble. Read more..

DWTS Season 21, Week 2 Night ONE – Dancing by the Numbers

Yep, still on Vacay, but I do manage to find a spare hour here and there to jot down a few notes and numbers.

Not really surprised to see Chaka go last night. I think I said quite some time ago that either Chaka or Kim would be the first out. Thought it would be Kim, since her dance was so bad…but Chaka had Keo and that guy can’t seem to get it together. Ah well. Both Chaka and Kim improved a lot last night, but I don’t know if it will be enough to save Kim. Here’s how the leader board stacked up. Read more..

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

JC Rubio’s Dancing With The Stars Periscope Behind The Scenes Extras Week 2

Hey All! If you go to JC Rubio’s Periscope, you can watch him behind the scenes with the couples last night during and after the show. @IdolXFactor1 also put it up at You Tube for us in case you don’t have the right browser to see it at Periscope (see below). This gives you a good idea what it’s like LIVE backstage for everyone. Too fun. For JC Rubio’s interviews in high quality, see Afterbuzz.

PureDWTS Season 21, Week 2, Monday – Power Rankings

I apologize for not getting this up last night – asthma kicked in and I just needed to lie down. God bless allergy season! I think this may be the first time since season 15’s two-night performance debacle during the Presidential debates that I’ve had to do (2) rankings in one week 😛 I wouldn’t mind so much, except that there’s still a LOT of couples left…and when I want to weight in on each one, that’s a lot of writing!

Aside from the Colts playing like sh*t and my live stream freezing up at key moments, I also had the added irritation of the bulk of the dances having way too much “messing about” at the beginning.  With the dances already being so  shortened, it just seems like that much more of an excuse to d*ck around in order to conceal weaknesses. Dislike. Also seemed like a night where nobody 100% knocked their dances out of the park – maybe it was the strain of having to learn two dances this week, but while there was quite a bit of improvement from (most) everyone, I don’t feel like anyone completely mastered their dances.  A few came close…but still room for improvement all around.

I’m pretty shocked that it was Chaka that got sent packing tonight – I actually think she did noticeably better than last week, and thought that an R&B legend would have more folks voting for her than a reality TV wife. Also an eye-opener? The fact that Keo somehow looks better (and seems to teach better) when it’s a ballroom dance instead of a Latin one…go fig. Isn’t Latin his specialty? I just don’t know what to make of Keo anymore…but 3rd season in a row where he hasn’t been able to make it past week 3? Yikes – that’s a pretty dismal track record, and something has gotta change…and it ain’t the type of partner he’s getting. Read more..
