DWTS Season 21, Week THREE – Dancing by the Numbers

Maybe one of these days I’ll get my numbers done some time during the week. 🙂  Is anyone even HERE on a Saturday besides me? It’s cold and wet outside, and I’ve been away for weeks, so I’m enjoying myself. ETA: Being away made me miss that supposedly this weeks elimination will be the result of Week 2/Night 2 scores and votes combined with Week 3 scores and votes. The result of me adding in Week 2/Night 2 are rather interesting. Scroll to the bottom if you’ve already read the first installment.

I was working on the assumption that Gary would be the next to go, despite how entertaining he is, because he’s not a great dancer and he’s crazy and he’s been “in jeopardy” a couple times. As a refresher, remember that sometimes being in jeopardy is a warning sign and sometimes it’s meaningless…and sometimes they want the person in jeopardy to get some votes (see: Andy).  We don’t usually know until the end of the season how they’re using it.  Anyway, I was working on the assumption that it was Gary, but then I looked at the scores. Now I’m not so sure. At all. Read more..

Las Vegas Odds For Dancing With The Stars Season 21 Week 3 – Do You Agree?

Sports Bavada has posted their new odds for Dancing With The Stars Season 21 Week 3. Take a look below and see if you agree. Let us know in comments. In my opinion, Bindi is too low…and same with Alek. I’d be putting her at first or second…or tied with Nick for first. Everyone else may be about right.

Nick Carter +200 +
Alexa PenaVega +225 +
Carlos PenaVega +700 +
Tamar Braxton +700 +
Alek Skarlatos +700 +
Bindi Irwin +800 +
Hayes Grier +1200 +
Andy Grammer +1600 +
Gary Busey +5000 +
Paula Deen +10000 +

There are also some Odds posted at Broadway World. Bindi is first in their odds. I think I like these odds better, but, I think Paula should be last.

Heidi and Courtney, what do you think?

Courtney: Hmmm…these seem wonky to me. I don’t think Alexa should be nearly that high – I think that Alek, Bindi, Hayes, and even Tamar might have a better shot at the MBT. Truth be told, I’m a little uncertain of just who is voting for Alexa – are there really a ton of Spy Kids fans around? And I would put Bindi at about even odds with Nick – with Alek not far behind.  As I’ve witnessed from the switch-up voting – Alek seems to have surged to the top of a lot of folks’ lists as the “guy to beat” this season.  Also probably helps that he’s just kind of an awesome human being, too 🙂 Surprisingly, I’ve found a lot of folks have yet to be really impressed by Nick – I hear the words “intense” and “hard to connect to” thrown around a lot. Is he perhaps more of a Kendra Wilkinson than an Alfonso Ribeiro? I also think Gary is on his way out – so I’d swap he & Paula in the odds. I think the only one that’s about right on the money is Andy – I see him possibly being an early exit.

Heidi: Twitter noise is notoriously faulty when it comes to predicting winners, don’t forget.  I’m as big a Derek fan as they come and I think I’ve cast five whole twitter votes – and for several different partners. 🙂 Alek will do well as long as his scores hold up, but we haven’t gotten to any fun latin dances yet.  I think that Nick is still the guy to beat with women of a certain age who aren’t broadcasting it on twitter…but I don’t know if that will hold up for long, because I do agree that Alek is gaining ground. Nick needs to get out of his head or he’ll find himself on the outside of the Top 2 looking in. I  very much agree on Alexa – way too high.  Where this is coming from I just don’t know. Carlos too, for that matter. Alexa is behind Bindi, Nick and Tamar in the BW odds and I think THAT is still too high. Both sets of odds also have Hayes too low, I think.  Ultimately, Bindi, Nick and Alek are likely to be at the top in the end, along with Hayes and Tamar. Alexa or Carlos could sneak into the top 5 if Alek’s latin is not good…but I wouldn’t count on it.  I think Andy and Alexa are going to be surprisingly early boots, with Carlos out in 6th place unless he suddenly comes on strong.  That’s my very long way of saying – these odds are a mess and BW is marginally better. Marginally. 🙂 They do kinda make me want to put some money on Bindi, though…

PureDWTS Season 21, Week 4 – Who’s Dancing What…and When?

So, below is what we know so far for Dancing With The Stars Season 21 Week 4. Note that the couples dance to their “Most Memorable Year”! The following week is “Switch Up” week. Keep checking back for updates and don’t miss seeing our new Media and Interviews post.

ETA: According to this interview, Andy and Allison are dancing to his new single “Good To Be Alive” for their next dance. DWTSGossip is also confirming.

ETA2: Source says Paula has “Respect” by Aretha Franklin, and that Tamar has foxtrot.

ETA3: Source shared Alek’s song & dance.  I don’t know about you guys, but I’m stoked to see him do paso – and I kind of love the sentiment of the song chosen: “Don’t wake me up when it’s all over.” He’s loving the crazy experience he’s had in the last month 🙂 -Court-

ETA4: True story: When I was little, I thought the ladies singing Tamar’s song were saying “Marmoset there’ll be days like this, there’ll be days like this, marmoset.” Apparently I thought tiny primates had very rough lives. -Court-

ETA5: Alexa’s song seems to be one that people either love or hate. I fall in the latter camp 🙁 -Court-

ETA6: According to DWTSGossip, Tamar told Wendy Williams that she’s practicing the rumba. Sounds like Val changed the song and dance style yet again. He can’t seem to hang with what he’s handed and that says a lot. ~Heidi

ETA7: George Penacchio confirmed that Bindi & Derek have “Every Breath You Take”.  I had heard that either Bindi or Hayes had it, but couldn’t decide which one it made more sense for… – Court-

ETA8: I give up… -Court-

ETA9: Sharna “thinks” they are dancing 6th. Not sure. I’m guessing Bindi goes last and that Hayes goes first. After that, who knows?

ETA10: Some updates on running order – Heidi guessed right on Bindi! And George Pennachio says Alexa’s going first and confirms Nick going 6th. -Court-

PureDWTS Season 21 Week 3 Scores, Media, And Interviews With The Cast After They Danced

What a great night of TV last night on Dancing With The Stars. The couples talk about it and more in their new interviews. Access Hollywood talked with Alfonso Ribiero too. I loved how he said 6 or 7 could win Dancing With The Stars this season. He named Bindi, Nick, and Tamar as the Top 3 right now. He said all of them need to “keep stepping it up” and “create connection that we’re all going to enjoy.” Right on, Alfonso! Did you enjoy him as a Judge? I thought he did a superb job and so did my Dad.

The scores again for those who might have missed them….

Paula Deen and Louis Van Amstel: 20/40
Gary Busey and Anna Trebunskaya: 25/40
Andy Grammer and Allison Holker: 29/40
Hayes Grier and Emma Slater: 30/40
Carlos PenaVega and Witney Carson: 31/40
Bindi Irwin and Derek Hough: 32/40
Alek Skarlatos and Linsday Arnold: 33/40
Tamar Braxton and Val Chmerkovskiy: 33/40
Alexa PenaVega and Mark Ballas: 36/40
Nick Carter and Sharna Burgess: 36/40

Be sure to see E Online for their interviews. Glamour and FOX11 also has some backstage interviews. Below are more interviews. Read more..

Dancing with the Stars Season 21, Week 3 – LIVE BLOG

No longer cruising, but recovering from cruising. ?   I also find I’m watching the show with an eye to the crap they are going to pull and any “fun with editing” games they might play. Once again, I suggest that everyone watch “UNReal” to get a better idea of how I think this show probably looks behind the scenes. Yeah, it based on The Bachelor, but reality shows have a lot in common and that is a distinct lack of….reality. 🙂 DWTS is likely not as bad as UNReal, but I can think of a couple very glaring examples of how it is very much like it. Can you?

Anyway, T-minus 15 minutes to showtime. Who are we looking forward to? I’m open.

That was all right. I though there were a couple messy spots. Carlos is having the age old (male) problem of not wanting to follow a female choreographer. He best get over it.

Forgot to mention until I saw a similar comment in the comments…. but I hope Mandy isn’t holding her breath for an Emmy nomination. Seriously, another all female bump and grind? Only difference is the costume. Read more..

DWTS Season 21, Week 2 Night TWO – Dancing by the Numbers

Well, one of the problems of watching the show while on Vacation is that I don’t have good recall of the show this past week, nor do I have a way (at the moment) to rewatch it. I probably could pull it up on “On Demand” but, well, I’m somewhat lacking in time. I will be able to watch and live blog tomorrow which will make the next numbers post easier.  🙂

My impressions that I do remember is that neither Alexa nor Carlos is really doing it for me at the moment. I don’t have a good reason why nor any idea why this is the case. It just is. It could change for sure. I hope it does. I would like to see Mark win again.

Another impression was that Tamar actually had a good dance that I liked. We’ll see if Val can keep it up. I don’t have the high hopes for him that I once did, nor do I find him particularly inspired when it comes to choreo – but he does (yet again) have a good dancer. And one that I might actually end up *liking*. Read more..

The Dancing Poetry Corner – The Hometown Glory Map – Part Two

The Hometown Glory Map – Part Two

Night Two of The Hometown Glory week featured the amazingly talented Pros who grace the Dancing With The Stars stage each week. They are hard-working, work their magic to teach celebrities how to bring their visions to life. They work in all aspects to bring us a superlative show, for example creating costumes, etc. I give every Pro who has been on Dancing With The Stars a Standing Ovation – Bravo!

The Hometown Glory took several of the Pros to their hometowns in foreign countries. It was fascinating to see how they often rose from very little to the stardom they enjoy today. The Hometown Glory Map has extended far and wide! That Map has connected Dancing With the Stars in a harmonious manner! Dancing With the Stars is like one huge worldly family!

I wish The Troupe could have been included to tell The Hometown Glory stories too. Please join me for:

The Dancing Poetry Corner – The Hometown Glory Map – Part One

The Hometown Glory Map – Part One

What a refreshing two-night extravaganza we had on Dancing With the Stars! It was certainly a grueling two nights to learn two brand new dances. But, the theme of The Hometown Glory resonated in our hearts.

Thinking of my hometown, McAlisterville, PA. I have actually lived here three times, coming and going. My first time of course from birth until I got married. I lived with my parents until I got married. I moved away to other locations but my late husband and I moved back to town for a few years. We moved away again to another location. He died there and I moved in with my sister in another location. We decided four years ago to move back to our hometown, so here we are, I imagine to live out our lives here. When I think about it, it seems like a whirlwind, moving eight times and now I am home again.

The celebrities got their turn first to go back to their hometowns. It was so heartwarming to see more about them growing up and their reasons for choosing the songs they did for their dances. I loved The Hometown Glory Week and I hope it is repeated sometime. It was similar to The Most Memorable Year. Both themes take us inside the lives of the celebrities and allow us to get to know them better.

This show didn’t have an opening, so let me take you into the descriptions of the dances on:
