In an official announcement made today, Disney/ABC Television has announced plans to dedicate this coming Monday, November 5th, as a âDAY OF GIVINGâ across their news, daytime, syndication, primetime, and late night programming. âGood Morning America,â âLIVE with Kelly and Michael,â âThe View,â âThe Chew,â âKatie,â âDancing With The Stars,â âWorld News with Diane Sawyer,â ABC Owned Stations & Local ABC Affiliates, âNightlineâ and âJimmy Kimmel Liveâ will all participate. The comprehensive response follows the Walt Disney Company’s $2 Million donation for relief and rebuilding efforts to help those impacted by Hurricane Sandy. âGood Morning Americaâ will start the âDay of Givingâ by dedicating the entire 8:00 a.m. hour to raising money for Sandy Relief efforts. ABC News anchors, reporters and employees will band together to encourage people to donate to the American Red Cross.
The torch will pass to âLIVE with Kelly and Michael,â where the show will integrate âDay of Givingâ messaging into their highly anticipated Halloween episode (which was moved due to the impact of the storm).
The ladies of âThe Viewâ will discuss the âDay of Givingâ and encourage their audience to donate to the American Red Cross relief efforts, and âThe Chewâ will do the same.
âKatie,â which designated the entire hour on Wednesday, October 31 to Hurricane Sandy, will take up the mantle of the âDay of Givingâ and engage her viewers in these relief efforts as well.
The ABC Owned Stations and local ABC affiliates will integrate âDay of Givingâ messaging into their local news throughout the day, calling on their local communities to help those impacted by the storm.
âWorld News with Diane Sawyerâ will participate with messaging around âDay of Givingâ and the continuing impact of the storm.
âDancing With The Starsâ is planning to personalize sections of the live show Monday night with âDay of Givingâ messaging.
âNightlineâ will devote time to the âDay of Givingâ and the impact of Hurricane Sandy, and âJimmy Kimmel Live,â which has been airing from Brooklyn all this week and encouraging viewers to give to the Red Cross to help rebuild that impacted areas, will end the âDay of Givingâ on Monday with special messaging and calls to action for his viewers.
