ABC Releases Voting, Scoring, Entertainment Details For Monday Night’s Edition Of Dancing With The Stars

ABC MediaNet has released more details for Dancing With Th Stars for Monday’s nights dances, scoring, voting, and entertainment. Read carefully below for how the night will go down. More at the link. Also, if you want to see some song spoilers and watch “who’s dancing what and when”, be sure to watch this post as well.

“Episode 1507” -During this week’s two-hour performance show on MONDAY, NOVEMBER 5 (8:00-10:01 p.m., ET), the seven remaining couples will perform a fusion dance that has was chosen by their competitors on last week’s show. The show’s opening number, choreographed by Henry Byalikov, will feature The Troupe and four pros from the season. Later in the night, after the couples’ individual rounds, they will all take the dance floor for a swing dance marathon with the chance to add up to 10 extra points to their scores for the night. The couple in first place will get 10 points, the couple in second place will get 9 points, the couple in third place will get 8 points, the couple in fourth place will get 7 points, the couple in fifth place will get 6 points, the couple in sixth place will get 5 points and the seventh place couple will get 4 points.

Monday night’s show also includes the season’s second “AT&T Spotlight Performance,” featuring some of the Utah’s best young dancers. The ten featured dancers are between the ages of 15-18 and represent the future of ballroom dancing. Pro dancer Mark Ballas, who teaches in Utah during every off season, is choreographing this incredible piece to the hit song, “She Wolf,” by David Guetta featuring Sia. Pro dancer Chelsie Hightower, who is from Utah, will also perform in the piece. The performance promises powerful choreography, a fusion of ballroom, hip-hop and contemporary dancing – and a look at what the future has in store!

Who’s ready? Bring this show on! 😀

ETA: Heidi here! Derek tweeted this picture of Derek, Mark and Chelsie with the Utah dancers.  Poor widdle Derek. 🙂 At least he still  has his sense of humor. 🙂

Has Dancing with the Stars Jumped the Shark?

After almost every elimination, I get someone sending a message on the Pure DWTS contact form about how they’re never going to watch DWTS again. Many think that we’re the producers of DWTS, which I can assure you were are not! Most of these messages are easily ignored since it’s natural that fans of certain stars and pros are angry that they’ve been sent home. In most cases, those people end up coming back and watching DWTS again.

This season those messages have come at a much bigger rate than ever before. Most of the messages have revolved around Bristol Palin on the show (and sticking around) and the departure of Sabrina (which many thought was too early). The sheer volume has me wondering about the impact these events have had on DWTS. However, more disturbing has been the content of the messages. Usually you can just see the underlying anger about a specific incident. The messages this season have focused more on the show in general.

Certainly the ratings are down this season, but that could be caused by a ton of different X factors and Voices. However, I’ll be interested to see if this is a trend that continues in future seasons (yes, the ratings are still far from the show being cancelled).

With all of this in mind, I ask the question, has Dancing with the Stars “Jumped the Shark”? You can vote in the widget below (Click on Yes or No to vote):

For those not familiar with the term Jump the Shark, here’s the wikipedia description:

Jumping the shark is an idiom created by Jon Hein that is used to describe the moment in the evolution of a television show when it begins a decline in quality that is beyond recovery. The phrase is also used to refer to a particular scene, episode, or aspect of a show in which the writers use some type of “gimmick” in a desperate attempt to keep viewers’ interest.

In its initial usage, it referred to the point in a television program’s history when the program had outlived its freshness and viewers had begun to feel that the show’s writers were out of new ideas, often after great effort was made to revive interest in the show by the writers, producers, or network.

I’m looking forward to seeing the results of the poll and your thoughts in the comments.

DWTS All Star Shawn Johnson Presents Country Music Award (Photo, Videos)

Check out Shawn Johnson! Last night, the Olympic gold medalist gymnast and Dancing With The Stars All Star contender attended the 46th annual CMA Awards at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. She also presented an award. You can see more pictures of her at Zimbio Pictures. Below she gets interviewed on the Red Carpet….

And here she is presenting an award….

What a great night it was for her. Thanks to The Boot, BeautifulSoulXXX, and Carol Smith at You Tube for the videos.

Next, Shawn will be heading straight back to Los Angeles to rehearse for Dancing With The Stars Monday night. Be sure to head over to Pure Derek Hough for all the latest on she and partner Derek Hough. According to one article Heidi posted, and if all goes well, Derek will be better from his injury and cleared to dance with Shawn. If not, Mark Ballas will be ready to step in, but “hopefully that won’t happen.” More at Pure Derek Hough.

DWTS All Stars, Week 7 – Who’s Dancing What…and When??

Week 7 – another crazy week. Two dances, three dances, no elimination…what will they change next. Really, the changing of the game as we go has GOT to stop. It doesn’t really feel fair. I know, this show is never fair I should stop hoping for that. But…I am eternally optimistic, believe it or not. 🙂 I don’t know why Apolo is talking about three dances. No clue. And the Swing Marathon was added at the last minute to make up for no live elimination on Monday night. I don’t know what the story is there – would love to hear the real one because the one Tom gave was totally bogus. He got all shifty eyed AND the story didn’t make any sense.

It just occurred to me that Apolo could be talking about three dances because he’s looking at the fusion dance as TWO dances…which is really NOT a good sign. At all. It’s supposed to be *fusion*…not Cha Cha followed by Paso or whatever. And that leads me to realize another way some couples could/should get marked down, but probably won’t.

ETA1: Gilles just can’t wait to share, can he?? He must know we all wait with baited breath. :::rolls eyes:::

ETA2: Courtney tells me that she thinks Emmitt is the most screwed with his song. From the sound of it, his pro also rolls her eyes at fusion.

ETA3: Please take note of the footnote at the bottom. We’re not sure about the group dance song.

ETA4: Looks like Mark may well be dancing for Derek tomorrow, if Mark’s rather gloating tweet to a Derek fan is any indication. And Derek got his MRI back and the doc asked him if he’d been in numerous car accidents. Um, thanks Derek, I really didn’t need to hear that. 🙂 In other news, Emmitt is dancing second and Kelly has a song that rings no bells for me.

ETA5: I take it back, I do know Kelly’s song, now that I listen to it. I just didn’t recognize the artist’s name.

ETA6: I see Gilles is back in the latter half of the show. Too bad for him it’s right before the Marathon. Heh. Called Apolo’s dance order right before she posted it. Predictable, I guess.

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)
