DWTS Producer (Tries to) Defends Himself After Letting Tom Bergeron Go From Season 29

Yeah, this dude is full of crap. Get a load of this from ET.

“It’s all about evolution,” he told reporters Wednesday during Day 2 of ABC’s virtual fall press day. “Any show like this that has been on for many, many seasons needs to continue to evolve. So I think changing that host is all about evolution. It was all about making the show feel fresh, making it feel new and make it reach out to a new audience — as well as the audience that’s been there for years.”

While viewers have lamented the absence of Bergeron and Andrews, Llinares believes switching from a two-host format to one has been “working brilliantly.”

“I think it’s really refreshed the pace of the show. It’s taken it to a new place, in terms of moving fast and feeling different. I think that there’s a real danger when a show has been on for a long time that the audience almost gets bored of the rhythm of it. It doesn’t mean that there’s anything wrong with it, just that it gets a little boring,” he said. “I think it’s changed the rhythm of the show in a really exciting way. I think Tyra is doing an amazing, amazing job. It’s been wonderful having her energy in the ballroom and her expertise as a host in the ballroom. She’s brought a new life to everything.”

If he had left it at the first paragraph, I might have believed him. but then he goes on and on. And not just the above…he carries on even after saying “she brought new life to everything”.

He doubled down on parting ways with Bergeron and Andrews, reiterating that it’s about keeping the show “relevant.”

“When a show’s been on for this many seasons, it’s very easy to stay in a place where it doesn’t feel like there’s anything wrong but does the show feel fresh, exciting and new? It’s really tough… We’ve always been successful on all those shows where we continue to evolve and continue to move things on. That’s something we’ve been doing right across the board with this show,” Llinares explained. “The host is part of it, bringing Derek in is part of it, but also throughout the fabric of everything on the show — the set has been updated, it feels more current and the way we’re filming the packages… all of those things take the show into a place where it feels more current. We wanted to make the show feel relevant, but still hold on to the heart of the show.”

There’s this old saying “Me thinks he doth protest too much”….meaning, if you’d shut the fuck up about it we might have believed you. But the constant blathering on makes you sound…guilty. Apologies to Shakespear fans, I know the actual line is: “The lady doth protest too much, methinks”

He also claims he’s been talking to Derek “for months” and the original plan was to have the original three judges plus Derek. Um, can you imagine four judges and 15 couples AND Tyrant?? Yeah, me neither.

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

Tom Bergeron Gives A Sneak Peek Into Dancing With The Stars Season 25 And More

What is host Tom Bergeron looking forward to the most in the new season of Dancing With The Stars? Find out below and more fun goodies. From Parade…..

What are you most looking forward to this season?

It’s going to be sort of a landmark season, the 25th of the show. It’s a big deal. And knowing the production team as well as I do, I know they’ve taken that into account when they’re booking it and building theme weeks and building sort of an arch for the season.

When the cast is assembled and ready to go, do you have an idea of who’s going to win from the start?

No, I’m terrible. Jimmy Kimmel’s much better at predicting it than I am. I’m pretty bad about it. This past season I thought Rashad [Jennings] had a really good shot at winning, but as much as I love David Ross, I wouldn’t have predicted him to come in second. I don’t think he would’ve predicted him to come in second! And I felt a little bad that sometimes my surprise registered on camera. But I just thought David was wonderful and really spoke to what the show is at its best, people who come in, have no dance training, but by sheer force of charm and personality win people over.

What’s been the best part of the show for you?

What I think I’ll always treasure from the experience when the show goes away will have been that camaraderie, that sense of going out onto a live stage in front of millions of people and just knowing that this is going to be fun. That this is an incredible playground that I get to romp around in.

More at Parade. You can also read an interview with Tom at Dish Nation where he says there won’t be any political figures dancing this season.

Also, don’t miss a cool feature on Erin Andrews at Parade as well. Here is a take….

Andrews’ DWTS co-host has plenty to say about their working partnership and what the lead-up to showtime typically looks like.

“We have a production meeting in my dressing room at about 10 a.m. on show day,” says Bergeron. “We’re supposed to be going through the script, but most of the time is spent breaking each other up and being unprofessional. Then the dress rehearsal at 1:30 on show day is even more of a stroll down that particular road, where it’s more R-rated than what you see on the network. Erin’s got a great sense of humor. She’s always unpredictable.”

And, on DWTS, she gets to dress up in ball gowns, which must be a treat after the grass stains and rain slickers of her football gig, right?

“I don’t really like it,” she says, laughing. “I like being on live television. I’m a fan of reality shows, so that’s fun. But I’m not really into dresses and high heels. And wearing Spanx and my hair up with a lot of makeup? I’m better in a flannel, T-shirt and ripped-up jeans.”

One exception: Andrews’ wedding in Montana this past June to 35-year-old former NHL star Jarret Stoll, where she wore two stunning designer gowns—one for the ceremony and one for the reception.

“Our wedding was perfect,” she says. “We just wanted a big party. We had all our friends there, a lot of players my husband hadn’t been with since they [the L.A. Kings] won the Stanley Cup in 2014. We were dancing around and laughing. We loved it so much.”

Let’s Send A HUGE Congratulations To Our Two DWTS Couples!

Peta Murgatroyd and Maksim Chmerkovskiy were married on Saturday, July 8, 2017.

Julianne Hough and Brooks Laich were married on Saturday, July 8, 2017.

I had promised our sweet Vogue, who has been away from the computer for the whole weekend, that I would fill in for her, and post photos of both weddings. Instead, I ended up being VERY busy and away from the computer for a majority of the weekend because of some family obligations. I had been trying to keep up with things on my phone though…

I’m not going to post the photos, however, because I usually have a lot of trouble getting them to post, and it’s Vogue who puts any photo onto anything I’ve posted!  Instead click here to see Julianne and Brooks announcement from People and click here to see Peta and Maks announcement from People.

There’s been quite a bit said about the two weddings being on the same day, and even mentioned how unfair they were to not move their dates. The thing is, neither couple moves in the same circle, and I really don’t think that there was as much overlap in guest list as people are assuming. Other than the dates, and that 3 of them are employed by DWTS, I don’t think there was too much the same.

Both brides are breathtakingingly gorgeous! Both brides had gowns that fit them and their personalities. Both brides had a wedding that they’ll remember for the rest of their lives! Both grooms are head over heels for their bride, and vice versa.

Peta and Maks chose to get married in a huge wedding at Oheka Castle on Long Island, NY. Julianne and Brooks chose to get married in the middle of a field lakeside near Coeur D’Alene lake, Idaho.

Both are important events, and both deserve to be celebrated. I’m sure we’ll find photos to add at a later time, since one of the wedding parties chose to be a LOT more secretive about the entire wedding than the other.

Please post your congratulations below for our two happy couples!

Carrie Ann Inaba, Julianne Hough, And Erin Andrews Planning A Party To Discuss Their Weddings

Carrie Ann Inaba is looking forward to the new season of Dancing With The Stars especially since co-stars Julianne Hough and Erin Andrews are planning weddings like she is. Here is more from Closer Weekly and how they are planning a party to discuss their ideas….

The best part of planning her wedding so far? Carrie Ann is sharing her “I Do” tips with her DWTS co-stars Julianne Hough and Erin Andrews, who are also both engaged!

“I was just talking to Erin and Julianne and we’re trying to plan a party when the [next DWTS] season starts up — a girl’s night dinner so we can kind of discuss some wedding planning together,” she told Closer.

“We can share secrets and things like that as we all move forward. It’s really nice to be engaged with all of them at the same time,” Carrie Ann continued. “I think it’s really fun. It just kind of shows the way our our whole [DWTS] family is so connected, that all three of us are engaged at the same time is funny.”

I’m looking forward to all of these weddings (and Sasha & Emma’s and Maks & Peta’s weddings too). More on Carrie Anne’s wedding at Closer Weekly. Thanks to Lori for the heads up.

A Health And Wedding Update On Dancing With The Stars Erin Andrews

In an update from Extra, Erin Andrews says she’s doing great after her cancer scare last Fall. Erin also gave an update on her wedding to Jarret Stoll. Here is more….

Ready to help plan the bachelorette festivities, Charissa revealed Erin isn’t going to do the whole “veil thing” at the wedding. Erin agreed, “I don’t do that.” She went on to dish, “You know my man is the bridezilla! He is Pinteresting. I’m in Dallas Cowboy meetings, and he’s sending me, ‘Hey babe, I saw this on Pinterest,’ and I’m like, ‘Hey babe, will you let me get through Super Bowl?’” She added that they are not having a black tie wedding. “Jarrett isn’t even wearing a tie!”

The 38-year-old recently revealed she was diagnosed with cervical cancer in September, and all traces of the disease were successfully removed in two surgeries. During that time, she never missed a beat during football season.

Andrews updated reporters on how she was feeling. “I’m doing well, I’m doing great. This week is crazy for us, we are also hosting the game!” She said she feels wonderful after beating the disease. “I went for a workout today.”

She’s so cute and thank goodness she’s ok. To read the full update, see Extra.

Erin Andrews Kept A Cancer Diagnosis A Secret, Will Return For DWTS Season 24

Last Fall Dancing With The Stars Erin Andrews was diagnosed with cervical cancer and she didn’t tell anyone. Thank goodness she is ok. She’s also returning for Dancing With The Stars Season 24. Below is more from Entertainment Weekly.

SI reports that Andrews missed two tapings of DWTS after learning of her diagnosis — but the official word was that she needed time off to support her boyfriend (now fiancé) Jarret Stoll, whose nephew had been killed in a car accident. “I don’t believe anyone knew what was going on,” said the associate.

Andrews, 38, underwent surgery Oct. 11 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Two days later, she boarded a plane to Green Bay, Wisconsin, to film a football feature. “Let’s just say the doctor didn’t recommend that,” Andrews told SI. “But just as I felt during my trial, sports were my escape. I needed to be with my crew.”

Andrews is expected to return as a co-host on DWTS when the show’s 24th season kicks off March 20.
