Game Show Network Photo Shoot In Los Angeles For Past DWTS Seasons (Photo)

As many of you know from our past reporting, past seasons of Dancing With The Stars will start airing in January on the Game Show Network. Yesterday several of our pros and past celebrities showed up in Los Angeles for a photo op in light of the event. Gilles Marini posted a picture at his twitter account (seen above) of himself, Mel B, Maks, Lacey, Derek, Rick Fox, Chaz Bono, Ralph Macchio, and Audrina Partridge. Also on tap for the shoot was J.R. Martinez (not pictured). They look great, don’t they? Be sure to check their twitter accounts when you can as almost all of them tweeted on their excitement about it.

I'm a fashion and music nut....and I have always loved dancing too of any kind. Dancing With The Stars seems to have this way of bringing all of those things together. Derek Hough (one of my favorite dancers) said at a recent Get Healthy event that ‘dancing’ is an outward expression of what is going on inside you. He says that in some ways, everyone dances and it's so true. To TPTB, how about Sam Palladio's "Fade Into You" (this version sung by WilUnleashed) for a V. Waltz?

Vote for Your Favorites in the DWTS13 End-of-Season Awards!

It’s time once again to vote for your favorites/least favorites in our semiannual end-of-season awards! While Heidi & I’s cheesecake awards are more humorous (and just bestowed by she & I), this is a chance for you guys to weigh in on the bests and worsts of this past season, and for us to be a bit more serious.  To see examples of past award winners, check out the results of the season 11 & 12 end-of-season awards.

Of course, there are some guidelines before you vote.  Keep in mind that we tried to pick the most likely candidates for each category – ones that we felt most of you would probably pick, if asked.  There is no point in listing a dance like Ron & Peta’s cha-cha as a candidate for best dance of the season :-P However, if your pick for a certain award is not listed, there is an “other” box that you can chose and write-in your own nomination.  But be warned: if I cannot read what you wrote, I’m not even gonna bother counting it.  Spell check, kids :-) And if you write in something that’s already been listed as one of the choices, I’m throwing your vote out on principle alone – kind of like those tests that sees if you read all the instructions before proceeding.  Things were a bit less chaotic for last season’s awards than for season 11′s, but I still got quite a few badly misspelled, grammatically confusing, and downright incoherent answers that I had to throw out.  For the sake of my sanity, kids – at least try to make your choices clear ;-)   That said, VOTE AWAY! We’ll give you guys a week or two to get your votes in, and then we’ll reveal the results at a later date.

How Did Your Early Predictions For DWTS Season 13 Stack Up With The Results?

1.Forecasting the frontrunners. She predicts that J.R. Martinez will walk away with the Mirror Ball trophy this season, with Ricki Lake and Rob Kardashian not far behind.

The above quote was taken from Fitness Magazine from an interview with Anna. She made that winning prediction for Season 13 in October. As you can see she ended up being dead on with it. This got me thinking about our Dancing With The Stars early prediction posts before Season 13 started. Do you remember how you ranked the contestants before they started dancing and were you wrong, right, or close?

Some of you posted your thoughts in Marianya’s Prediction Stat Post while some posted their predictions in Courtney’s Part One and Part Two Preliminary Power Ranking posts. As you can see, Courtney and Marianya were pretty close for how the competition turned out. What’s interesting is Marianya was probably the only one from almost all of us who predicted Rob to do so well….and what’s more Marianya put him as high as 3rd place!

Heidi ended up being amazingly psychic as always when she predicted Kristin to “pull an Audrina” by exiting the competition early in Marianya’s Post. She predicted the same with Chynna. Heidi also predicted J.R. to win in her Part 2 Ringers Post.

Almost all of us chose Rob and Nancy to finish last. The majority felt pretty negative on those two. To our pleasant surprise, we ended up loving them. Rob and Nancy ended up showing other sides to themselves that we didn’t know about and staying in the competition more than many of us forecasted.

Anyway, take a look back at the links above if interested. It’s fun to see how close or far we came from the results and what we (the bloggers and fans) wrote. My early first prediction for the top five were David, JR, Ricki, Elisabetta, and Kristin…and well, we all know how that turned out. LOL!!

Melissa Rycroft On The “Dancing With The Stars Diet”

On Good Morning America today, Melissa Rycroft reveals the weight-loss secrets behind Dancing With The Stars. It’s no wonder why so many of the celebrities lose weight when they burn 250 calories an hour while rehearsing 30+ hours a week. They owe the weight loss to the Dancing With The Stars diet as well. Very interesting!

DWTS13 Chaz Bono Is ‘Very Much Alive And Plans To Stay That Way’ (Rant Post)

Have you all read about how the National Enquirer claims Chaz will die within four years because of “purported health issues stemming from his gender transition?” Chaz and his lawyer, Dina LaPolt are outraged (I don’t blame them, do you? How could anyone report such a thing! :( ) According to E News, Dina sent a cease and desist letter to the National Enquirer accusing the magazine of defamation and demanding it print a retraction and apologize.

“This is absolutely outrageous, false, fabricated, and highly defamatory,” the legal eagle wrote. “The salacious and inflammatory headline and article were crafted for the malicious purpose of discriminating against our client’s gender and sexual orientation.”

The letter then takes issue with several key assertions the article makes, including that “obesity, testosterone supplements, and high suicide rates among transgender people all increase Chaz’s risk of an early death.”

Hardly, notes LaPolt, who describes the statement as “outrageous” and “offensive.” She also blasted the tabloid for citing as its evidence the authority of a so-called doctor, Patrick Wanis, whom the Enquirer labeled a transgender specialist, a depiction the attorney claims is “highly misleading and blatantly false.”

“He is not a physician and has no specialty in transgender health issues,” stated the attorney.

LaPolt went on to call the story “a smear campaign” and pure “character assassination.”

You can read the E News article in full and how the rep for the magazine defend themselves.

There is no excuse for what they wrote in my opinion. I wonder how they’d like it if someone wrote a death prediction piece like that on them? Sad!!! :x

DWTS Season 13, Week 5 and 6 – The Cheesecake Awards

Well, Courtney and I are suffering from a bit of a mid-season “blah” – all my mind is really capable of right now is “Derek pretty…Derek pretty…” So, this version of the cheesecake is for both weeks 5 and 6, and it’s either going to be extremely bitchy or short and mean. :-) Hard to tell. It’s perception, really. :-)

Week 5

Tom Bergeron’s WTF Moment of the Night: When Brooke says “A Hush has fallen over the Ballroom” yet there is actually a pretty noticeable booing and hissing from the audience.

Heidi: Poor Tom, he just couldn’t help himself, he had to say something. :-) His response was pretty funny: “Sounds like a pretty angry ‘hush’ to me.” Geez, Brooke? Really? A hush? Maybe you meant hiss?? Here’s a piece of advice – don’t ad lib.

Courtney: Someone call tech support, stat – the Brookebot 2.0 has a glitch in its matrix. Seriously, she’s like Tickle Me Elmo these days – only says a handful of phrases, and it’s only cute once or twice before it gets terribly annoying.

The Award for Biggest WTF of the Results Show: The Choir

Heidi: Um, really?? A choir? In the gowns and everything?? And it wasn’t a little choir, there was a whole dang bunch of them. I thought for a moment I was watching the finale of American Idol. I will say, the choir stayed in sync better than the troupe dancers did. I have to say that the choir coming out (and yes, I get the Madonna connection) was the first time in a long time that I sat there going “what the f*#k are they doing?” I was momentarily stumped. Confused. Befuddled.

Courtney: Confuzzled :-P I sure hope they didn’t break the bank when they booked the choir – if I were them, I’d be funneling more money into get a troupe that CAN ACTUALLY DANCE IN SYNCH than into ridiculous, over-the-top props. Maybe this is why they skimped on the fire with the extension cord a few weeks ago – had to pinch pennies to afford the choir. Read more..

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

Chaz Bono Lands New Reality Special Which Will Include DWTS Footage!

Good news for Chaz Bono!! He may have been voted off Dancing With the Stars this week, but it’s only the beginning for him! He’ll soon be returning to TV with his own reality TV special called “Being Chaz”. Below are some details from Entertainment Gather. Note how the new special will include Dancing With The Stars footage.

Being Chaz will be a follow-up to his Emmy nominated special Becoming Chaz. It will look at Chaz’s life since transitioning from a woman to a man, and will include DWTS rehearsals and the controversy that his appearance as a contestant on the show created.

Fans will have to wait until late November–November 27th to be exact, to watch Being Chaz on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN). That gives Chaz Bono a brief break from the media spotlight before allowing people to witness more of his personal and behind-the-scenes challenges.

Hopefully the special won’t only concentrate on the many challenges that Chaz Bono has faced and will likely continue to face, but will also highlight the joys he has experienced since transitioning to manhood. His example could certainly be enlightening for many young men and women who are facing similar struggles in their personal lives.

Also, if you missed Chaz and Lacey on The View today, you can see the full interview at The View’s official site. There is some fun backstage footage at the link as well. Chaz focuses on the positive as always!

For those interested, Chaz will also be Joy Behar’s guest tonight on her show on HLN!
