‘DWTS All Sports Edition’ Coming, Night Two Press Interviews, And More

Below are press interviews and recaps after Night two of the Dancing With The Stars finale. Lots of new tour talk and note the mention from ABC7 on the Dancing With The Stars “All Sports Edition” coming in the Spring. Too fun…

ETA: From TV Line on the DWTS Sports Edition. Is it possible these sports champions are dancing in it? This would be so cool. Be sure to read the link for more.

The 10 athletes set to compete in this spring’s cycle will be revealed at a later date.

It’s no surprise that DWTS would test the waters with a season consisting of all sportsmen and women. In its 25-season history, 10 of its champions have come from the world of sports, including former football players Emmitt Smith, Hines Ward, Donald Driver and Rashad Jennings, Olympic gold medalists Apolo Anton Ohno, Kristi Yamaguchi, Shawn Johnson, Meryl Davis and Laurie Hernandez, and race car driver Hélio Castroneves.

Dancing with the Stars Season 25, THE FINAL FINALE (Night 2) – LIVE BLOG

Well, it’s the finale. Time to sit through 2 hours of crap to find out who wins the shiny Mirror Ball trophy. Good luck to all the contestants.

One note – the person dancing last on Night 2 of the finale has won the MBT SEVEN of the last ten seasons.  I’m hoping the comments won’t become an ugly place tonight. None of these contestants deserve that.

Love the opening bit with Len. He’s so funny…and did I see a bit of swag.

Robert!! Yum. But producers…this show is NOT about Val and Maks, so spare me please.

Lindsey being a pep talker in the BTS footage. Frankie too, it appears.

Hey!! I want a sleigh!! How come Tom gets a sleigh?? Read more..

DWTS Season 25, Week 8 – Who’s Dancing What…and When?

Well, we got the trios from People.com so this post is going up a good bit earlier than normal. When I’m still super pissed about the bogus underscoring of Team Monster Mash and massive over scoring of Team Phantom. It’s called “protect the C-boy at all costs” – which is going to be the death of this show. Their pathetic inability to just let the show evolve naturally – and in such a transparent way – is just sad. If Val was all that, he wouldn’t need the help. What would have happened if both teams got all 9’s? Well, I would guess that Victoria would be eliminated. Now, she’s near the top of the leaderboard.

ETA: New info highlighted red!! Dance order per George Pennachio.

Dancing with the Stars Season 25, Week SEVEN – LIVE BLOG

Welp, my cable is out so I need to find a stream right quick. :::sigh:::  And I was looking forward to the opening.

Also, I was carving pumpkins all afternoon so I don’t have the dance order. I’ll try to do that here in a moment. 🙂

Here we go….fingers crossed for Lindsey although it sounds like she’s in. Hopefully.

Fun Opening number! I enjoyed it.

Wow, Val admitting he’s had ringers?? He started off by bragging that victoria can get past Jordan and Lindsey. :::sigh::: Always making excuses for not winning.

Pretty dance from Victoria and Val…kinda confused by the lack of a Halloween theme other than the tombstones. Strange. But very pretty. Len loves it of course. Since that was a 9 dance I expect her to get 10s.

Judges prove me wrong for a change and Victoria gets a 27. That seems fair.

And Jordan almost chokes on his vampire teeth.

Damn, he looks good with the pros. And he’s hitting that Paso just right.

Okay, that’s the best Paso I’ve seen in quite some time. Choreo was great, well done by Jordan. Which body part will they criticize this week??

Bruno calls it insanely good and I would agree. Uh oh, CAI getting ready to be an ass. Let’s hope she proves me wrong. Okay, she says she likes it, but she’s got that crap tone of voice she does when she doesn’t WANT to say it’s good. And Len likes it too. Whew!

Love those ghosty 10 paddles…all three of them. 😉

Nikki and Arten up next with their Jive. I really like Nikki – hope she’s safe tonight.

Artem did a good job incorporating Halloween into this Jive. She lost a step there but over all she’s doing a good job. Her legs are still a bit too soft. Did I see Britt make a mistake. Something looked off over there….

CAI, of course, saw way more mistakes than there probably were. Len says it lacked a bit of punch – I think he’s seeing her legs being a bit soft. She’s had that issue from the beginning, but it’s relatively small at this point.

I think Artem IS having a good time this season and I’m happy for him. A 24 is fine – Artem is happy with it. Maybe there were that many mistakes. 🙂

Vanessa and Maks are up next. She looks very pretty. Annnddd….Maks talks Lindsey and Jordan, but at least he has enough sense to not be throwing shade.

Zombies!! Yay!! I like Straight Hair Maks. That was a weird walking section and now there was too much that was sans Paso. This song isn’t doing her any favors or Maks just didn’t choreograph it hard enough. When I think Paso, I think Jordan’s style dance. This one didn’t suck though, for sure.

Len is saying what I just said – it was lacking Paso choreography – too true. A bit too much fucking around. It’s the two extremes of the C-Boys – Val had like no production, Maks had too much. All in all though, his production was good, compared to what he might normally do.

Vanessa gets a 24. I actually think the dance was better than a 24, but not by a ton. They could have given her one 9. She danced what she was given well, IMO.

Terrell is really growing on me week by week…and he’s LOVING his vampire teeth. 🙂

The dance isn’t up to the standard of anyone else who’s danced thus far. His hold is pretty good, but he’s got a few issues – not as polished as the previous dancers.

Bruno raved, CAI is draping her critique and praise…this score will be interesting. I’m wondering if he’s getting the votes and Vanessa and Nikki aren’t and the judges are making sure they reflect the audience. You know they like to be right.

TO gets a 25. Hmmm…

LOL Sasha. Such a bad boy.

Damn, Lindsey and Mark’s costumes are insanely good.

Again, LOL to Sasha. I love Frankie’s non-reaction. “That’s stupid”. LOL.

Judging by the comments on this post and by twitter – I’m being very kind today. 🙂

Lindsey and Mark!! Displaced a rib…we’ve had that injury a lot on this show. Poor Lindsey.

I wish I could pull off the Pixie hair. But alas…

She’s has a couple weird spots but they look like Choreography. Very had to tell. But over all an excellent dance…could probably be a bit more in sync in spots but she is hurt.

CAI is very impressed (as am I). Len is a fan, although he wasn’t “keen” on parts of it. He just named MANY parts that he did love. So, weird.

Lindsey gets a 27…the dance, score and package should keep her safe next week, I do believe.

That was a fun bumper. Nice.

Next up…Frankie and Witney. With creepy contact lenses. I like how involved he’s becoming. Good for him!!

Oh, the horror movie route. Yes.

Wow…this was actually a very cool concept. Very scary and I think Frankie may have found his dance style. That was quite good. Creepy as hell too.

Agree with Len when he calls it fantastic. And with Bruno when he says it was inspired. I also agree with CAI when she says it was mesmerizing.

Frankie gets a well deserved perfect score. That was a damn good dance.

Drew and Emma up next. Don’t know what to make of Len’s critique from last week. He gets a good package as well. If he’s safe it should help him.

This is a very cute concept as well. Love the dancing skeletons. He’s having some very minor timing issues but overall he’s keeping up very well and…well, there was a weird spot there, but I think it was choreographed. So hard to tell during these themes.

The judges are digging it. He’s actually a decent dancer – he’s just so freakin’ tall that he has to be more perfect than anyone else just to match up to them. Very curious to see if he’s safe.

And the weird spot I saw WAS a fall. And Drew gets a 27 out of 30. Good job.

Team dances up next!!

So, Alfonso, Kelly Monaco and Corbin are all going to be dancing next week as part of the trios. Interesting. I wonder if this means Frankie is safe???

Monster Mash is on the stage and….

First couple safe is: Jordan and Lindsay.

Terrell and Cheryl – in Jeopardy.

Lindsey and Mark – Safe!!

Nikki and Artem – in Jeopardy.

FYI…Mark’s costume is creepy as hell. Lindsey taking the lead on choreo, at least of part of it.

All those moving parts are dangerous. Fingers crossed.

Opening was fantastic. Nikki had some issues, but covered well, I think. LOVE the concept, with the pros all being the “monsters” and the celebs being prom goers. Or some such thing. The four couples together were excellent in the middle.

The twists section also excellent. Damn, that whole dance was VERY GOOD. Well done. Loved it.

Len is on crack. Only Nikki was “messy”. Bruno is not loving it either. I’m in bizarro world here. I’m wondering if someone on the other team needs to be saved.

They get a 24 our of 30…I seriously feel like this was underscored. Is this where they bring Victoria and Vanessa back into the game??

Time for more preliminary results….

SAFE: Frankie and Witney (YAY!!!)

Drew and Emma: In jeopardy.

Victoria and Val: SAFE

Vanessa and Maks: In jeopardy.

They didn’t drill the sync quite enough. Hmmmm…this choreo looks VERY familiar. Like something Derek did quite a few seasons ago only without the sync. It’s actually a good dance, so far, with sync issues.

That didn’t suck, but it could have been cleaner. It was kind of predictable. And I think the show is being very predictable tonight as well. Best, most exquisite team dance ever??? OMG, the hyperbole is shocking in it’s disingenuousness. Ridiculous. It was a good dance, but a perfect score?? Who are they trying to save here?

Hmm….are two of Team Phantom leaving??

Surprise…

Safe: Drew and Emma (HA!)

Terrell and Cheryl – SAFE!!

Eliminated: BOTH NIKKI and VANESSA. Somehow I knew he was going to do that when the reaper came out.

So, the over scoring on Team Phantom is likely designed to protect Victoria since Drew and Frankie overcame decent spreads to be safe. Gotta have a C-boy in the finale, after all.

DWTS Season 25, Week 7 – Who’s Dancing What…and When?

Happy Halloween!! I’m carving pumpkins at work on Monday, but hopefully home in time for the show. 🙂 Here’s a bit from the press release that might interest you:

In addition, the celebrities and their pros will be grouped into two teams – Team Monster Mash (team captain is Terrell Owens) and Team Phantom of the Opera (team captain Drew Scott) – with each performing a dance to celebrate All Hallow’s Eve. The two team captains were chosen because they had the lowest cumulative scores across the season, and they were given the chance to pick their teams in order to help boost their rankings with both the judges and viewers. The team dance scores will be combined with the celebrity’s individual dance scores for a final tally.

Er, seriously?? You have THREE Pasos yet everyone else has a different style? Why? And do these songs seem Halloween-y to you all?? Not really to me, but I guess it depends on the staging, etc.

Winners: The Paso people might be the winners, especially Lindsey since she gets to pimp her own song. 🙂 Frankie should be alright with Contemporary. I would guess that Cheryl can do a killer (pun intended) Tango but, man, can’t deal with that song.

Losers: A Jive to “I put a spell on you”??? Huh. I guess I’ll have to listen to it, but this doesn’t sound like a good plan. A Halloween Charleston? Again, huh. We’ll see.

ETA: And George is starting to get the dance order…Victoria is dancing first tonight. Just a reminder that in week 7, the dance order no longer means nearly as much. Although, since we still have 8 couples it’s NOT irrelevant.

Victoria Arlen and Val – Viennese Waltz (Song: “The Night We Met” by Lord Huron)
Dancing 1st
1-800-868-3413

Jordan Fisher and Lindsay – Paso Doblé (Song: “Animals” by Martin Garrix)
1-800-868-3406

Nikki Bella and Artem – Jive (Song: “I Put a Spell on You” by Bette Midler (“Hocus Pocus” version))
1-800-868-3409

Vanessa Lachey and Maks – Paso Doblé (Song: “Game of Survival” by Ruelle)
1-800-868-3412

Terrell Owens and Cheryl – Tango (Song: “Super Freak” by Rick James)
1-800-868-3411

Lindsey Stirling and Mark – Paso Doblé (Song: “Roundtable Rival” by Lindsey Stirling)
1-800-868-3407

Frankie Muniz and Whitney – Contemporary (Song: “Every Breath You Take” by Chase Holfelder)
1-800-868-3405

Drew Scott and Emma – Charleston (Song: “Remains of the Day” by Danny Elfman)
1-800-868-3404

Team Monster Mash

Team Phantom of the Opera

Team Drew and Team Terrell – already discussed quite a bit in Courtney’s post.

PureDWTS Season 25, Week 6 – Power Rankings

I’m not exactly sure who at DWTS this should be directed towards (Mandy? The producers? Val/Maks/the male pros as a whole?), but here goes:

Exactly how high and out-of-touch with reality were you when you decided on the concept for the opening pro dance for movie week???

Honestly, I don’t know that I’ve witnessed such a gauche, tactless move on this show since…well, ever. And this show has had its fair share of snafus over the years. In the past two weeks, Hollywood has basically had roof blown off of it with 20+ years of Harvey Weinstein’s misogynism and sexual misconduct coming to light, and 30+ women have  come forward with stories of his unwelcome advances in exchange for “furthering their career”; it has really brought the issue of men basically ruling Hollywood to the forefront, and illustrated just how so many women in the industry live constantly under the boot of the patriarchy and have to really fight for representation. So what does DWTS do? Choreographs an opening dance that paints Val as a bright, new, MALE screenwriter, auditioning for a room full of MALE directors, producers, and studio heads, before being given the job and commanding a bevy of doe-eyed ingenues that swoon over his every move. The dance was 3/4 the male pros showing off how awesome it was to be men in Hollywood, and 1/4 the female pros looking pretty swaying in the background and stroking the mens’ egos – and it was yet another insult to the talent of our female pros, just like most of the hair-flipping, sex kitten routines Mandy Moore subjects them to on the regular. And it basically glorified the very culture that women in Hollywood are trying so hard to fight right now – with spectacularly poor timing. I don’t want to hear justifications from anyone that this “was just how old Hollywood was, and that’s what was being depicted” – as far as I’m concerned, the time for reliving and romanticizing those days is LONG past, and for the love of all things good and pure, WAS IT ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY TO DO THAT PARTICULAR ROUTINE THIS SEASON, OF ALL SEASONS?! So help me god, I hope people drag the hell out of Mandy for this one – there were so many other routes she could have gone, and she went with this festering turd instead.  *rings bell like Septa Unella* SHAME… *ring*… SHAME… *ring* …SHAME…

And another item to file under “really bad ideas for DWTS” – who the hell thought it would be smart to bring Shania Twain in as a guest judge??? Aside from her being neither an authority on dance nor particularly relevant to the movie theme, she functioned mainly as a random word and number generator, that spat out incoherent critiques and puzzling scores, and didn’t even sing live when she performed the song she did for a recent movie. I got shades of Idol-era Paula Abdul, trying to make sense of some of what she was saying – it was not a good look.  Just brings me back to “Why do we even need guest judges, anyway?” All the extra scores do is just make the margins smaller for next week’s elimination…which may explain why they felt the need to include a guest judge at all this week: anyone want to place bets that the double elim may come next week? And they’re basically trying to distill it down to who is getting the votes…and who isn’t? Then again, the decision to bring her in may be as simple (and dumb) as somebody high-up at DWTS losing a hand in poker and having to agree to have Shania on to pay their debt 😛

So Nick finally hit the road, and not a moment too soon – that samba was pretty cringe-y, and Nick’s “feign disappointment about getting a low score and being in jeopardy” face was getting progressively less believable with each passing week. Dude was practically halfway to the parking lot before Tom finished saying “And the couple leaving us tonight is…Nick and Peta!” I think Peta was also lightweight relieved to be done, as she seemed to be trying to keep a low profile with all of the Chmerlachey drama – and I think she’s just tired and probably very much in need of the 11-month break she’s going to get before she has to be a pro again. A baby and a marriage in the same year are big life-changers, and we saw how much a year-long break benefited Mark… Read more..
