Dancing with the Stars Season 21, Week 2 – Tuesday Night LIVE BLOG

And onto night 2 of the “Hometown Glory” extravaganza – and tonight it’s the pros’ turn 🙂 If you want a refresher of what went down last night, here’s Monday’s live blog post, and my power rankings and Heidi’s numbers headed into tonight’s show.  Sorry kids – had to unsticky ’em, or else we’d just have an endless parade of stickies on the front page, and ain’t nobody got time to scroll through that 😉

Thoughts going into tonight’s show? I’m just happy to not be watching on a crappy internet feed, and that my asthma is in check thanks to a new inhaler (thanks to all who checked in on me today :-)). Actually kinda excited to see the pros’ talking about their hometowns – haven’t really gotten to see a ton of that.  Slightly disappointed we won’t get to see Keo’s – Deep Throat indicated his hometown package was REALLY neat. Still think Kim is on the chopping block, with *cringe* Victor possibly on the bubble. Read more..

Alexa And Carlos PenaVega Write about Last Night’s Dances On Dancing With The Stars

The PenaVega’s are happy they tied for second place on Dancing With The Stars last night, but, they know that they need the fans votes to determine the real outcome tonight. Here is more from People in their new blog.

Alexa’s take:
It was sad to see Chaka Khan go home. And another person goes home tonight. Both Carlos and I scored 24 out of 30 on Monday, and we’re tied for second place, but you never now how people are going to vote at home. I try not to think too much of that and just try and have fun and work as hard as I can.

After the show last night, I asked if Mark and I could get some rehearsal space for the night, but they were all closed. But Mark made a tape of our rehearsal so I still got some practice in on my own. And then we are going to rehearse together as much as we can today. So, I feel good about going into tonight’s show!

Carlos’ Take:
The best part about Monday night was getting to honor my dad with my Hometown Glory song. My dad has always wanted to be on TV, so I think he was super stoked about it. I really hope that he watched it and loved it.

The foxtrot was a hard, hard, hard dance for me to learn. I work a lot better with the up-tempo numbers. The slow ones take a little more effort for me. [My partner, Witney Carson,] had to keep reminding me to breathe on Monday. “Breathe into the floor,” she’d tell me. But it worked out, and I’m just so glad to be for another show.

I’m happy Alexa and I tied last night, but I thought she did incredible. I think she deserved 10s from the judges.

I hope she and I both make it all the way to the finale. I definitely want to win, but I want her to be my competition all the way to the finish line.

When Witney and I started rehearsing our two dances for this week, I thought the cha-cha was going to be my stronger dance, but it’s not. I actual felt more confident about Monday’s foxtrot. After the show last night, I asked Witney if we could just go outside the television studio so we could run our dance for tonight a couple of times since we couldn’t get a rehearsal space for the night.

The one good thing going into tonight is that I feel a lot more confident knowing we just have to focus on this one dance. And then, if we get past tomorrow night, we have a whole week to prepare for the next dance. I think we can do it, and I’m looking forward to having fun tonight!

DWTS Season 21 Victor Espinoza And Karina Smirnoff Rehearsing Until Showtime – New Blog

Karina Smirnoff has written a new blog at People. She thought Monday night went really well for her and Victor with the exception of his sombrero not working the way it was suppose to. Though last night right after the show, they went straight to rehearsals to work on their new routine for tonight. Read more at the link and below….

The truth is, you just never know who is going to get cut. There are a lot of factors that go into it: the personalities and likability of the couples, what dances they get to do, what scores they get from the judges. You just never know how things are going to go until you hear the results.

All Victor and I can do is continue to work on getting better and better and putting the best dances possible out there for our fans.

Immediately after we finished the show last night, we rushed over to our rehearsal space to prepare for tonight’s show. There is going to be another elimination, and we have to do all we can to make sure we put the best possible dance out there on the dance floor tonight. We’re going to be rehearsing right up until the moment we walk out on the floor. Then all we can do is our best.

Nick Carter Writes New Dancing With The Stars Blog, Looks Forward To Tonight

Below Nick Carter writes about what happened to his footwork, his shoes, and his timing on Dancing With The Stars last night. He’s learned from it and is ready to move on. Here is more from Nick at Hollywood Life.

When the judges gave the scores, some of them said I was a little messy, but there was a reason for that. All of those in consideration, I’m a professional. I’ve done this for a long time, so it’s kind of frustrating to get judged on that, knowing that it was out of my control. At the same time, I still felt like we gave a great performance. So when given three sevens, I wasn’t upset at it, I just said to myself, ‘Hey you know what?that’s how they view it, and maybe they hold me at a high standard and I need to do a good job.’

I’ve moved on from it, and I’m just looking forward to the next thing that we do. Now I feel like I’m kind of getting my footing, my confidence and understanding, that I’ve done this for a long time and there is no reason for me to be insecure. I’m switching over a little bit in my mind, thinking to myself, ‘Hey, I’m gonna be better, it’s gonna take some time. These are new routines that I’ve never done before and I’m human just like everyone else. I need to work hard just like everybody else on this show, in order to be good.’

I know who I am and I know what I’m capable of doing, and I believe that hopefully I will progress and get better as this goes on. That’s how I am. I keep on working until I get good at something. This show is fun but challenging at the same time and it requires you to do something that you’ve never done. Overall, it’s not about me, it’s about giving the audience and the people watching, the greatest performance that I can give them. I look forward to growing.

DWTS Season 21, Week 2 Night ONE – Dancing by the Numbers

Yep, still on Vacay, but I do manage to find a spare hour here and there to jot down a few notes and numbers.

Not really surprised to see Chaka go last night. I think I said quite some time ago that either Chaka or Kim would be the first out. Thought it would be Kim, since her dance was so bad…but Chaka had Keo and that guy can’t seem to get it together. Ah well. Both Chaka and Kim improved a lot last night, but I don’t know if it will be enough to save Kim. Here’s how the leader board stacked up. Read more..

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

PureDWTS Season 21: Alfonso Ribeiro to Guest Judge in Week 3, “TV Icons Week”

So People just broke the news that Alfonso will be the first guest judge of the season.  It also looks like the theme of week three is “iconic tv shows”.  Iiiinteresting. Here’s what Alfonso had to say about it:

“Guest judging on Dancing with the Stars is like returning home for me but with the big twist of being on the other side of the judge’s table, which is both a relief and exciting,” Ribeiro, 44, says of hosting TV Week on the show, where each couple will pay homage to iconic TV shows.

Honestly, I think having Fonz as the first guest judge just seems like the natural thing to do – he already seems to be so active at the show, and the dude has a good bit of dance/entertainment knowledge to bring to the table, so I think he’ll actually give relevant critiques.  Thoughts?

Hey All! If you go to JC Rubio’s Periscope, you can watch him behind the scenes with the couples last night during and after the show. @IdolXFactor1 also put it up at You Tube for us in case you don’t have the right browser to see it at Periscope (see below). This gives you a good idea what it’s like LIVE backstage for everyone. Too fun. For JC Rubio’s interviews in high quality, see Afterbuzz.
