Keeping An Eye On: Celebs Who Were Rumored To Dance On DWTS

Just some brief mentions on some celebrities we’ve been keeping an eye on that were rumored to dance in some previous seasons of Dancing With The Stars. First of all, let’s not forget about “Deadliest Catch” star Sig Hanson. This past June, he was reported as saying he will participate on Dancing With The Stars in the Spring. Here is more from Reality Blurred at the time…

Deadliest Catch star and Northwestern captain Sig Hansen said he’ll participate in Dancing with the Stars next spring.

The St. Pete Times’ Eric Deggans reports that “the possibility Hansen might fulfill his longtime dream of competing on Dancing With the Stars in March 2012” is “the kind of success they could scarcely have predicted when [executive producer Thom] Beers first suggested putting a film crew on their boats for the first time.”

Specifically, Sig said, “So they’re looking at it for next March and I’ll do it. I think it’d be good for the brand, once-in-a-lifetime thing, and it’s fuckin’ cool, you know? Why not, you know? … I think it’d be fun. It’s just, you know, why not? I’m living life. It’s been fun and as long as it doesn’t hurt my relationship with my wife, I’m good with it.” (That quotation didn’t make the story but Deggans provided it to me from the transcript of his interview.)

Also, did you note how Lee Meriwether was in the audience watching the show one night this past season?? She tweeted about it and was an avid supporter to J.R. through out the season. As you might know if you are a follower to this site, Lee has been very interested in dancing on the show for the past two seasons. Let’s not forget she’s made it a point to ‘follow’ a lot of Dancing With The Stars fans at twitter. Will Dancing With The Stars Season 14 finally be her time to dance? As you can see from her twitter account, she’s nutty about Tom Bergeron too as many of us are. 🙂

Then there is pro woman wrestler Velvet Sky. She and her fans have been campaigning hard for her through out the Summer and Fall! I thought this recent tweet made by her on Oct. 1st was especially interesting….

Let’s get Heidi’s thoughts:

Heidi:  Velvet was never a rumor, she was a campaigner who made it sound like she was in the running.  Big difference…and I kinda doubt she will be successful.  But, you never know.  🙂

Speaking of campaigns versus actual rumors – Lorenzo Lamas was claiming not too long ago that he was on the “short list” to do the show…yet he (and Donna D’Errico) urged all his fans to vote for him at abc.com.  So, is this a rumor, wishful thinking on his part, or a savvy (kinda) campaign??  Who can tell – it’s Hollywood!! Clearly some are not above stretching the truth and there is no way of telling when someone is. 🙂

What about rumors that seemed pretty solid??  Celebuzz said that Kim Richards was all signed up to do the show – wrong.  So, was she signed and got bumped??  Or did she tell Celebuzz what she was hoping for??  Either way, maybe she’ll show up on this coming season of the show. 🙂

Then there are those tweeting a list of people who are “going to participate” and they actually get half of them right.  Well, what do you do with the other half of their lists?? Were those people in contention and got bumped or decided not to do it?? Or were they culling rumors like we do and just managed to get half right??  The Henry Winkler and Tiffany Thiessen rumors seem to fall into this category.  Don’t know what to make of it, actually.

Christina Milian is a rumor that I could get behind…if she was dancing with Derek. 🙂  So much pretty on the dance floor. :::sigh:::  🙂  She seemed kinda solid for last season, but we know how that turned out…but never say never. Shawn Marion actually said he was offered, but didn’t want to take a chance with the lockout – as we know, Ron Artest didn’t mind taking the chance. This makes me think that we won’t see Marion any time soon – current basketball players two seasons in a row? Probably not.

Who else seemed like a possibility recently?? Well, Davy Jones, Evelyn Lozado, Matthew Finley….well, the list is too long, really.

Of course, this is where the internet noise machine becomes a problem – one person mentions a name as a “wish” then someone sees it and thinks it’s rumored….and before you know it it’s all over the freakin’ internet as a “fact”.  Let me tell you, sorting through all that crap to find the real deal is nearly impossible.  But at least we’ll tell you when we’re not sure. 🙂  Which is MOST of the time.  And this is the time that I chuckle as I remember all the Hope Solo fans who told us, categorically, that Hope was NOT doing the show after we reported she was.  So, all the talk is hard to decipher.

There are probably several hundred other people who were rumored in the past who we should be keeping an eye on – but this is a start for now.  🙂

DWTS Season 13 – Rumor Roundup Part 1!!

Okay, as I joked the other day, the tabloid wars are getting out of hand, with one outlet with a great track record (TMZ) is setting up rumors while other outlets, some reputable and some with no track record on DWTS rumors, shooting them down.  It’s crazy, it’s wild….it’s a helluva lot of fun. 🙂 But…it’s hard to keep track of also! Who was rumored, who was shot down, who out and out denied they were doing the show?? Well, that’s why I’m writing this post – to try and make sense of it all and make a list of where we stand now. I don’t know about most of our readers, but this is actually one of my favorite parts of DWTS – trying to figure out who’s going to do the show before…they actually do the show. 🙂

My guess is that Chynna, Christina, Rob and Kristin…and maybe Jenni…will turn out to be true. We’ll see!!

Note: Vogue is reading this before it’s posted…but that doesn’t mean it will be perfect. If we left someone off – please tell us and we’ll update accordingly. DO NOT tell me about people who are campaigning or who want to be on the show – this is for actual rumors. I’m putting a list of wannabes at the bottom – but they are not the same as “rumored to be in talks” or “rumored to be doing the show.”

Chynna PhillipsPerez Hilton reported this yesterday, but it was originally mentioned that she was in talks quite some time ago by us, via The Insider.

Christina Milian – First reported by US Weekly back in July, along with Rob Kardashian, Christina seems fairly solid. Only because Hollywood life (and as recently as August 12)and others are saying she’s in, and no one’s managed to shoot them down yet.  She also had an interesting reaction to a question about DWTS, as we mentioned earlier.

Rob Kardashian – Another potential dancer who is being mentioned by many of the outlets and hasn’t been shot down yet. Along with Christina, he was originally mentioned by US Weekly in July. He addressed the rumors in an interesting non-denial similar to that of Kate Gosselin.

Kristin CavallariAccess Hollywood reported this one and no one has shot it down yet, to the best of my knowledge.

Ron Artest – Originally said to be in talks by TMZ, Ron has since said he will not be on this season.

Snooki – First she was, then she wasn’t, then she was open to it…who the hell knows?

Leila Arcieri – gave a rather vague answer when asked about DWTS.

Queen Latifa – Originally rumored by TMZ, this one was shot down by her reps.

Tommy Lee – was apparently asked and apparently said “hell no“.

Rosanne Barr – was apparently asked and would like to, but she needs body parts replace first. 🙂

Tiffany Thiessen – First, she said no, but then other outlets, such as TMZ and Hollywood Life as of August 12, are still claiming she is dancing, even though Tiffany herself shot down the original rumors. As recently as yesterday, Perez claims she’s dancing.

Jenni Rivera – This rumor is purely twitter driven…but not impossible. 🙂

Matthew Finley – first reported back in June, we haven’t heard his name mentioned very much lately.

Ashley HebertHollywood Life reported that Ashley was “in negotiations” with DWTS back in June while the Bachelorette was still airing, but we haven’t heard much on that lately. The silence is rather deafening. DWTS has a bit of a track record with that franchise, as you may recall. I would not be surprised if they keep the incestuous relationship going.

Evelyn Lozada – Chad Ochocinco claimed to TMZ that Evelyn was “in talks” to do the show.  Then, we reported on a Tweet from Evelyn that sort of implied she was doing the show.

Chaz Bono – I kinda doubt this one, mainly because Extra had a story on it and then pulled it, as we reported a while back.

Bobby Flay – This is another rumor that’s only been mentioned once.  This is one busy guy, so…

Kelly Preston – I never put much stock in this one, but you never know!! Showbiz Spy claimed back in April that she had “auditioned” for the show – which is the first clue they don’t know what they’re talking about. I’ve never heard of anyone having to audition before. In any case, it’s not impossible, as Kelly isn’t that far removed from a Kirstie Alley or Jennifer Grey.

Melissa Gilbert – Melissa’s name has been on many a fan wishlist, but no real rumors until this past May when The National Enquirer brought it up and we repeated it. 🙂 And, interestingly, Melissa tweeted a link to our post! That was nice.  She said no in a weird kinda way as well, which makes me inclined to leave her on the “possible” list.

Sherri Shephard – This lady has wanted to do the show for a long time and appears to have a crush on Maks, but something (or someone) seems to be preventing her from doing the show. Back in June, she was tweeting about the show, and she’s talked about it alot on the View. Wendy Williams claimed she was in talks to do the show in July.   I wonder if their producers won’t let her out to do DWTS.  Seems like we’ve talked about her a lot here. Last word was on August 1, where she supposedly turned an offer down.

Davy Jones – Davy was supposedly asked and “supposedly” turned the offer down. His “no” was rather confusing. 🙂

Hulk HoganHollywood Life takes him out of the running before he was even IN the running.

Candice Cameron Bure – There’s something funny going on here. 🙂 Waaay back in February, we reported that the New York Post was saying Candice was rumored to be participating. She subsequently shot that rumor down via Twitter on February 16, saying she hadn’t been asked. However, since then her name has come up again because of an interesting tweet (again).  She was tweeting Erin Andrews and had asked about Evan Lysacek.  Again, she KIND OF denied it, but in a very strange way. In a way that makes some of us (Evaine, me, Vogue) think perhaps there is more to the story. Evaine is hoping this is about Candice’s husband Valeri Bure, retired hockey player. I guess we’ll see. 🙂

Shawn Marion – He’s afraid that there won’t be an NBA lock out and DWTS would interfere with his season, per a couple previous stories we posted about him.

Bridgit Mendler – a fan site claimed they had been told she was doing the show, but her rep has since denied it.

Alex Morgan – A member of the U.S. Women’s Soccer Team, Alex mentioned in an interview that she had a show she would be working on for a couple months that she couldn’t talk about. We thought maybe it was DWTS, but twitter chatter says she said it was a cameo. Well, Cameo roles don’t take “a couple months” as far as I know. 🙂

Dina Lohan – I dunno if this is a rumor or more like a wannabe on steroids.  In any case we haven’t heard much about her lately.

The WANNABE Dancers – I could not possibly do a complete list of wannabes, but here are a few who’ve really made it known

Hope Solo – this is more like MAKS wannabe dancer and wishful thinking. But hey, something got him to change his mind, maybe it was Hope?

Theresa Guidice – She’s been trying very hard to get on the show, but they apparently said “NO“. 🙂

Shaquille O’Neal – Pretty sure this one was an assumption by the original source and not a real rumor.

Regis Philbin – remember, Regis said he’d been asked to do the show, but only if he could dance with Derek. 🙂

Jodie Sweetin – we mentioned her way back in Februrary because she had mentioned wanting to do the show. Plus, she likes Derek but started following Maks, so we thought maybe she knew something. Well, she didn’t dance on Season 12 (neither did Derek) so I thought I would include her here. Old rumors often come back to life around here, you know. 🙂  Of course, this is more campaign than rumor, but there you go.

Lee Merriwhether, Mackenzie Westmore, Maci Bookout and Dee Wallace

Ellen K – Ryan Seacrest’s pal, and she certainly has more of an “in” with the show than others, but still this one is wishful thinking. We think. 🙂

Sig Hansen – this guy has been rumored for, like, 2 years now so I’ve downgraded him to a wishful thinker. 🙂

Randy Jones, Michael E. Knight, Jason Alexander and Colleen Zenk

Deadliest Catch Sig Hansen To Dance on Dancing With The Stars 14?

Can you believe we already have a new rumor for Dancing With The Stars Season 14? Reality Blurred via a transcript from Tampabay.com is reporting “Deadliest Catch” star, Sig Hansen, is to participate on Dancing with the Stars next Spring 2012. Below is a quote from the link;

It’s been fun and as long as it doesn’t hurt my relationship with my wife, I’m good with it.” (That quotation didn’t make the story but Deggans provided it to me from the transcript of his interview.)

Heidi just reminded me Sig has been rumored to dance before for Season 11. From taking a review of all the Pure dancing With The Stars posts on Sig from that time period, it was a strong rumor too. Hmmm, so, could this be indeed Sig’s time to dance?

Ok, so, I have to admit, lol, I’m not sure about this guy? 😯 But, we’ll see.

DWTS Season 11 Casting Rumors – The Typecasting of Season 11, Part II

So apparently I might be onto something with my typecasting theories, because it seems like a lot of you are also trying to deduce from the absolutely CRAZY amount of rumors flying around who might be fulfilling each type…and honestly, at this point, I have no clue what to believe 😛 But that’s the fun of DWTS, right?

If the majority of what’s being reported is true (doubtful), then it looks to me like they might actually skip some types this season (haven’t heard any major reports about soap stars or hosts);  but if they’re leaking only a few actual celeb participants and the rest are red herrings, then we might get few suprises thrown in and have a more “well-rounded” cast.  But enough general speculation – on with the rest of the types!

The Teen Idol

Previous examples: Joey McIntyre, Aaron Carter, Donny Osmond, Lance Bass, Mel B., Joey Fatone, Drew Lachey, Joey Lawrence, Ian Ziering, Cody Linley, Sabrina Bryan, Mario Lopez

Advantages: If sales of Tiger Beat are any indicator, the teenyboppers will come out in full force to support their favorite heartthrobs/idols.  Being young & good-lookin’ sure doesn’t hurt! Many also have the added advantage of having a decent dance background, especially if they were part of a musical act.

Disadvantages: Youth can also have its disadvantages – as in immaturity.  What some might call “youthful exuberance”, others might call “immaturity” or “attention deficit disorder” – poor Cody Linley had a hard time sitting still! Emotional immaturity (a la Aaron Carter’s post-rumba meltdown in the confessional) can be especially off-putting.

Possible candidates this season: Looks like Brandy is our best guess.

The Host

Previous examples: Jerry Springer, Brooke Burke, Leeza Gibbons, Mario Lopez, Kenny Mayne, Lisa Rinna, Tucker Carlson, Mark Dacascos, Rocco DiSpirito, Erin Andrews

Advantages: Being that they’ve been at the helm of their own shows, these guys usually have the media savvy & charisma to appeal to the masses, as well as the previous exposure & recognizability.  Most (not all!) are also decently attractive, which never seems to hurt (unless, of course, you’re a model – see previous post for explanation).

Disadvantages: Many hosts are only used to hosting – as in just sitting down & talking (or dodging the occasional punch, if you’re Springer), so the lack of movement experience problem seems to come into play.

Possible candidates this season:  Chris Jericho also hosts some show on NBC, so I guess he could do double-duty and fulfill the role of both the athlete and the host.

The Actor

Previous examples: John O’Hurley, Melissa Joan Hart, Steve Guttenburg, John Ratzenberger, Debi Mazar, Denise Richards, Ted McGinley, Shannon Elizabeth, Jennie Garth, Vivica Fox, Marissa Jaret Winokur, Shannen Doherty

Advantages: Being that their bread & butter is acting, most can usually nail the emotions of the dances. Bonus points if they’ve done any Broadway (like Winokur) because they have likely had dance experience.

Disadvantages: For lack of a better term, many of them seem to be “has-beens” – actors that haven’t been particularly active in the mainstream in the past several years – or were never that big to begin with (can anyone else think of anything John O’Hurley has been in BESIDES Seinfeld?), making it harder for them to garner votes from a public who may not remember them.

Possible Candidates this season: This one has blown up big within the last few days – we’ve got David Hasselhoff, Jennifer Grey, & Florence Henderson (who could also be considered a “legend”) now on our radar. There’s been a campaign for Bern Nadette Stanis, as well as one for Leslie Jordan that he himself is heading up.  Also a minor campaign for Melissa Peterman.

The Reality Star

Previous examples: Kim Kardashian, Kelly Osbourne, Melissa Rycroft, Steve-O, Holly Madison, Trista Sutter, Shanna Moakler, Kate Gosselin, Jake Pavelka

Advantages: Many have achieved pop culture icon status on their respective reality outlets, making them fairly recognizable.

Disadvantages: They may be memorable for the wrong reasons – people tended to remember things like Kim Kardashian’s sex tape more than her reality show, and people seemed more focused on Holly Madison’s split from Hef than her antics on The Girls Next Door.  Many can also come across as attention-hungry & talentless – reality TV is often looked down upon as a way to get famous without having any talent whatsoever.

Possible candidates this season: Oy vey – this is the subtype that has had, by far, the greatest amount of casting rumors…everyone from The Situation to Teresa Giudice to both Ali Fedotowsky & fiancée Roberto Martinez, to Audrina Patridge, but it’s hard to tell who’s got a legit chance and who’s bluffing.  Personally, I’m still holding out for Sig Hansen 😉

The Singer

Previous examples: Mya, Billy Ray Cyrus, Mario, Belinda Carlisle, Master P, Chuck Wicks, Sara Evans, Willa Ford, Monique Coleman, Toni Braxton, Macy Gray, Nicole Scherzinger

Advantages: As with the teen idols, many have had dance experience concurrent with their music careers.

Disadvantages: Most seem to be committed solely to one genre of music (often R&B or country), making it hard to appeal to a wide fanbase.

Possible candidates this season: Most obvious choice? Michael Bolton.  But in the same token, you could also have Brandy and/or David Hasselhoff fulfilling this role if they’re trying to kill 2 birds with one stone. The Xzibit rumor is still lingering slightly, and Pete Wentz fans are still holding out hope.

The Wild Card

Previous examples: Heather Mills, Tom DeLay, Mark Cuban, Steve Wozniak, Priscilla Presley, Buzz Aldrin

Advantages: The sheer novelty of having someone with such an off-the-beaten-path claim to fame (famous divorcee/widow, entrepreneur, disgraced politician, etc.) may be enough to have the public voting them – just to see what happens.  Being the “underdog” is a powerful thing!

Disadvantages: Due to their often dubious fame, people just may not have any clue who they are – I personally had to Google Mark Cuban’s name.

Possible candidates this season: Can it get much wild card-ier than Bristol Palin?! Good grief…still trying to wrap my brain around how they’re going to try and spin her claim to fame…

Ultrasound sales specialist by day, semi-knowledgeable DWTS fan by night...with a smattering of hair & makeup enthusiast, occasional model, baker, and crazy cat lady peppered in to make things REALLY interesting ;-) I might pee my pants in happiness if Donnie Wahlberg ever does DWTS - or if they ever use "Sunglasses at Night" as a paso doble.

DWTS Season 11 Cast – Rumors, Innuendo and Campaigns

Ahhh…less than a month until the cast announcement (most likely). This is when it starts to get a bit fun, and tiring. We have campaigns out the wazoo, random (and possibly baseless) rumors, and comments that make you go whut? This is also the time of year that I do a rumor round up. Well, guess what? The producers are on to people like me – and have pretty successfully clamped down on the loose celebrity lips that marked DWTS two seasons ago. So, more than anything, we have people begging to be on the show and not many real rumors. I do have a really random, based on absolutely nothing rumor – and that is Kurt Warner. A couple people on twitter asked him if he was doing DWTS this season; he didn’t answer and I couldn’t find any reason as to WHY they would be asking him such a thing – so it’s likely nothing. Isn’t he still playing football?? Maybe they are being mean to him and I didn’t get it. 🙂 I’m much too lazy (it’s, like, 500 degrees here) to research what is likely baseless. 🙂 At least a couple of the tweets claimed they were “seriously” asking the question.

First things first – I also usually recap rumors from previous seasons, because sometimes it takes a few seasons for something to come true. I’ll do that in a follow-up post, as this one is already kind of long. New rumors for this season, all of which I’ve already written about, are few and far between thus far:

Arianny Celeste – UFC Ring Girl
Xzibit – Rapper. I doubt this one. The offer may have been made, but it doesn’t sound like he’s going to do it.
Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino – I don’t know if this is a rumor or wishful thinking…but remember I said the same thing about Kate Gosselin. 😉
Landon Donovan – US Soccer team. This is another one that keeps popping up.
Chris Jericho – WWE Wrestler and host of the show Downfall (an ABC show, which bodes well for him in the future).

The campaigns for this season are numerous and, in some cases, extraordinarily annoying. 🙂 Lay off the Twitter, Johnny Weir fans, PLEASE. Most of you campaigners should take notes from the Martha Byrne fans, although they could lighten up a bit on the twitter too. 🙂 Here’s a break down of the campaigns I know about:

Nancy Lee Grahn – actress (General Hospital)
Leslie Jordan – he’s been working on this since before Season 10; he’s started a Facebook Campaign Page.
Greg Louganis – still has a minor campaign going. Greg was driving his campaign last season, don’t know if he still is.
Antonio Sabato Jr – relatively new campaign, with relatively annoying fans. 🙂 Antonio is on board with this one.
Tenley Molzahn (The Bachelor) has a little campaign that fans started for her, but she’ll be quite happy if they succeed.
Pete Wentz?!?! Could he really want this? Well, his fans have started a petition.
Shelley Martinez – female wrestler who has been campaigning for a good bit and is still going strong.
Martha Byrne – soap actress. This is the strong, non-annoying campaign.
Johnny Weir – Olympic Ice Skater, with Karina Smirnoff in his corner. I kid you not a few of his fans were tweeting THE SAME THING several hundred times a day, before they realized they were bugging the ever living hell out of a good number of people.  I’m not even exaggerating in the slightest. I actually feel sorry for ABC’s various twitter accounts because I guarantee they saw nothing but Johnny for days on end. NOT HELPFUL.
Bern Nadette Stanis – Thelma from Good Times
Melissa Peterman – actress (Reba). Melissa has a few fans who have been tweeting ABC; nothing on the level of Johnny Weir or Martha Byrne.
Amy Schmolt – Model (True Beauty). Amy was on a show I hate with the passion of a thousand burning suns. 🙂 It’s just bad. She tweeted this earlier today:

Tune in later this week, when I recap rumors from previous seasons that could still happen. Sig Hansen, for one. 🙂

The Usual Suspects: The Typecasting of DWTS, Part II

Ok, I realize I promised this yesterday – but alas, the laundry, dishes, & pets needing baths were screaming at me to take care of them, so this got bumped to today…but it is here, prior to the actual announcement of the cast!

Got some great feedback from part 1 – it was nice to see that you guys have noticed similar patterns with previous casts, and even filled me in on some potential contestants that I hadn’t yet heard of! Good stuff…keep it coming!

Alright, onto the other 6 types…

What some might call “youthful exuberance”, others might call “brattiness” or “attention deficit disorder” – poor Cody Linley had a hard time sitting still! Emotion immaturity (a la Aaron Carter’s post-rumba meltdown in the confessional) can be especially off-putting.

Possible candidates this season: The recent development of Nicole Scherzinger from the Pussycat Dolls being a possible participant doesn’t seem too far-fetched.  Candace Cameron-Bure (aka D.J. from Full House) has also hinted that she might be a future contestant.

The Host

Previous examples: Jerry Springer, Brooke Burke, Leeza Gibbons, Mario Lopez, Kenny Mayne, Lisa Rinna, Tucker Carlson, Mark Dacascos, Rocco DiSpirito

Disadvantages: Many hosts are only used to hosting – as in just sitting down & talking (or dodging the occasional punch, if you’re Springer), so the lack of “movement experience” problem seems to come into play.

Possible candidates this season: None yet, but a strange part of me would love to see lovable southerner Paula Deen from the Food Network…what’s not to like? She’s like a kinder, gentler, G-rated version of Cloris: she cooks, she eats, she talks in a syrupy southern accent!

The Actor

Previous examples: John O’Hurley, Melissa Joan Hart, Steve Guttenburg, John Ratzenberger, Debi Mazar, Denise Richards, Ted McGinley, Shannon Elizabeth, Jennie Garth, Vivica Fox, Marissa Jaret Winokur

Advantages: Being that their bread & butter is acting, most can usually nail the emotions of the dances. Bonus points if they’ve done Broadway (like Winokur) because they have likely had to dance.

Possible candidates this season: Can’t think of anyone better to embody “has-been” than Shannon Doherty – kicked off both 90210 & Charmed, I can’t think of anything big she’s been involved with in the past 5 years, making her pretty free to do DWTS.

The Reality Star

Previous examples: Kim Kardashian, Kelly Osbourne, Melissa Rycroft, Steve-O, Holly Madison, Trista Sutter, Shanna Moakler

Advantages: Many have achieved pop culture icon status on their respective reality outlets, making them fairly recognizable. Some cast-offs (think Melissa Rycroft) have also found sympathy in the hearts of the viewers.

Possible candidates this season: It pains me to even type the name Kate Gosselin.  At least for me, she embodies the worst qualities of reality tv – the scandal, the misplaced priorities, the shameless self-promotion, the greed…I could go on & on. Sig Hansen from Deadliest Catch? Now that, on the other hand, would be absolutely hilarious.

The Singer

Previous examples: Mya, Billy Ray Cyrus, Mario, Belinda Carlisle, Master P, Chuck Wicks, Sara Evans, Willa Ford, Monique Coleman, Toni Braxton, Macy Gray

Advantages: As with the teen idols, many have had dance experience concurrent with their music careers.

Disadvantages: Most seem to be committed solely to one genre of music (often R&B or country), making it hard to appeal to a wide fanbase.

Possible candidates this season: Can I be optimistic once more and through Paula Abdul out there for consideration? J Just let me dream, people…

The Wild Card

Previous examples: Heather Mills, Tom DeLay, Mark Cuban, Steve Wozniak, Priscilla Presley

Possible candidates this season: This is a complete reach, but I would totally stand behind Captain Chesley Sullenberger (the pilot who landed the plane on the Hudson?) competing on the show because it would be a fantastic human interest story. Plus, it’s delightfully random, so it could work.

Ok, we’re mere hours away from the announcement of the new cast.  Anyone else you think might be able to round out the cast, based on the “usual suspects”? 🙂
